leutistic rat snake

I'm looking for more info on rat snakes. I'm looking to get a leutistic rat snake for my boyfriend for Christmas. The guy that has it says its aggressive until it gets out of the tank, I'm just wondering if its typical for this breed of snake and if it will come out of it with some handling. Any info on these guys would be great, I'm interested in finding out if its really a snake we want or if we'll stick to boas.

It's very typical and in my experience they only get worse with age and handling. If you are not very experienced with snakes a lucy rat is not the way to go.

I may pass on this one then and get him one of the other 2 hes looking at. Hes looking at a Jungle Carpet Pythons, Woma python or the Rat snake.

I do want something we can handle tho,I'd like to be able to take them out for baths and cleaning their tanks with out getting bit every time.

Also it a colubrid which means they poop a lot! There is a guy in Moncton selling a woman python. Its a 2012. Email me as I may be able to get you a deal.

I sent you an email =). I think I'm going to stick with the bigger snakes. Malena may end up with a bunny or 2 for Christmas so I can start stocking up on feeders lol.

I want to breed rabbits. All but one of my snakes can eat them now.

I used breed French lops and Jersey woollies for a few years, until dad flipped out because I had a litter of 12 bunnies running free in the house.
I wouldn't mind starting to breed now and just selling off the ones I don't need. Its just a matter of talking Mark into letting me. Malena is working hard on getting one tho because someone may have "mistakenly" let her see a bunny and asked if she wanted one lol.

I think I'll stay away from the demonic colubrids lol. With 2 small kids one of which has learned to open anything I wouldn't trust her enough to stay away and not get bit. I have both my boas vivs locked and she still manages to get them open from time to time.

You need better locks, there is no way a child should be able to open a viv without adult supervision/guidance. Our keys arre hung seven foot up a wall (even the wife struggles to get them ;))

I'm looking at building my own enclosures so that they are more child proof. The one I have can be opened from the top which she has resorted to before. Shes a little artist when it comes to breaking into things. I usually hide the key so she can't find it. Shes in love with both snakes and loves to sit down and hold them (more like them laying on her lap) with us standing close by watching.

Get a lucy Black rat snake. Not a lucy Texas rat snake. The black rat snakes are MUCH friendlier. I've bred lucy Texas rats for many years and just got my first lucy black rat last year. They're like day and night...the black rat is as easy to handle as my corn snakes. And much easier to hold than my crazy egg eating snakes.

I'd recommend a carpet python, they look awesome and if he ever wants to breed he can with a green tree python to get an awesome carpondro

As much as I would LOVE to breed snakes I don't think he'd go for it. I wanted to breed myself a purple passion and he wasn't to happy with the idea. He says that 2 snakes are enough but I can get him one for Christmas to bring our collection up to 3. He takes all the fun away. He's worry about the room I guess, although we own a 5 bedroom house and only use 3.
