View Full Version : This idiot is going to die.....

I was on YouTube browsing for educational videos of my newest addition, when I stumbled on this video of a guy holding an adult Cryptelytrops macrops (big-eyed pit viper) in his bare hands....he's letting it loose in his hands. From the animal's posture and size, it could easily have bitten any one of his fingers, anywhere on his arm, and possibly reached his face at points. While it did not strike at him, it COULD HAVE. It absolutely infuriates me that people post videos like this on the internet! I don't care how "tame" your venomous snake is, it is still an unpredictable wild animal, and all it takes is one instance of you startling the animal, or something setting off a food or fear response, and your life is forever changed, or even over.

Wow...what an idiot is right. I really don't understand the way some people think or lack of thinking. Very dangerous!!!!!

My big female C. macrops would take my face off if I tried that garbage with her. She is feisty.

Why is he calling it a Royal Morph?
Will0W783
12-03-12, 11:20 AM
I don't think he is...I think he's saying "Don't you guys wish your ball pythons were as pretty as this snake?" It's showboating, and in a very dangerous, immature way. That snake, although one of the milder members of the Cryptelytrops genus, is still more than capable of causing permanent damage and death.

lol are they usually that calm?
Will0W783
12-03-12, 11:27 AM
No they are not usually that calm. Certain individuals of any species can be calm...my Malaysian temple viper for example would most likely be that calm if handled (but I'd NEVER handle her bare-handed like that...WAAAYY too risky).
None of my other pit vipers would handle calmly though...they have heat pits for a reason, and any body heat can be a potential target.

This guy (same person) also drives around with his chameleon on his steering wheel?

Chameleons don't do well with handling and stress....that poor cham must be terrified. :(
Venomoid? Still not right though.
Will0W783
12-03-12, 12:36 PM
I don't think he says it's venomoid. Even if it were venomoid, it should still be handled like an intact hot. Venomoid snakes can regrow the venom glands or ducts, and even if they don't, a dry bite can cause a nasty infection. They're deep puncture wounds with who knows what kinds of bacteria. Not a good idea....

At least the viper can give him what's coming if he really crosses the line with it, but that poor chameleon.. :hmm:

That's not a fake snake. It's a Cryptelytrops macrops, the big-eyed green pit viper. They do look somewhat unreal due to their almost glowing green and teal highlights and the opaque yellow eyes, but I have one and they are very very real and have quite impressive fangs to boot!

I would be more up set for the snake if he got bit because you know the snake would be killed.

One life sacrificed for the sake of his collection? It would be well worth it.
Will0W783

The snake might not be killed. In many instances, when people are bitten and the collection is confiscated, it goes to zoos or well-connected private keepers. If he is legally keeping it, then it won't be taken away.

Those aren't bite marks. It would appear that he is injecting the venom into him himself. It is a very dangerous practice, although some people will inject diluted venom in the hopes of building an immunity to the snake should they eventually ever get bitten. It's kind of along the same thought lines of allergy shots, except there is no standardized amount that's safe. The dilution that would be ok for one person, could kill another. And you will first go through allergic reactions as your immune system tries to get rid of the foreign toxins, before you might break through and build an immunity...if it doesn't kill you first or destroy your kidneys. It is a practice that is generally frowned upon by the hot community, although it does happen. This kid seems to have enjoyed showing off the results of his poorly executed self-immunization. He suffered very bad reactions to most of those injections, and I'm sure he has some permanent scarring from a lot of them. It's a horrible example to set, and it puts the rest of us responsible keepers at risk of losing our animals. I'd love to find this fool and give him a stern talking-to. >:(

JustBitten

Yes, yes they are.
On behalf of all Canadians everywhere, I apologize for this flaming moron's existence. Since he is in Canada it would be interesting for him to seek medical assistance, so with any luck he won't be around for long.
Will0W783
12-05-12, 12:07 PM
I'd agree, but unfortunately if he goes and gets himself bitten, it will add more fuel to the fire burning in the lawmakers to take away all of our snakes. Macrops are considered one of the milder Cryptelytops species, but they still have more than enough venom and potencty to potentially kill someone.
Yes, yes they are.
It is not that they are illegal to own in CANADA, they are illegal in most municipalities. Many venemous keepers find out where they are able to keep them and live there.

Weren't there pics of him in hospital?
Will0W783
12-05-12, 03:15 PM
Yes, it looked like pictures of him hooked up to respirators and IV lines in the hospital. In the very beginning of the video, I just noticed that it mentions a bite. However, the video shows pictures of what appear to be multiple instances, which is what led me to believe he is self-injecting the venom. That, along with his choice of musical accompaniment for the video...
