Alright, so it took a little while longer to get them than I expected, and they needed to go straight to QT, so I got them out of their shipping box, into a small holding tub for some quick day 1 snaps and then into QT - I promise to get some of my super clean on white shots ASAP. But for now, please enjoy these cruddy, on board flash, in a tiny tub picture of my latest pair of 1.1 Retics . ..

100% Pure Super Dwarf Anery bred by Travis Kubes (to be paired to my extremely high% Jampea Purple to make superjamp 100%double het snows!) ** Sorry for the crap picture, I had the wrong lens, not my normal camera I use, and the retic would NOT sit still so I was not going to stress him out**

Hope you guys enjoy my Little Bigs!

and just for those who missed her - my female 50% SD Tiger 66% het Albino, smoking!

Yeah, I'm really pushing against HR511 right now, will destroy me for selling retics across state lines :(, thanks though I'm stoked to be working with these!

Your babies are beautiful! Does Micheal Powell have a website?

Not that I am aware of - he mainly posts all his availabilty through kingsnake.com - the information portal for reptile and amphibian hobbyists. (http://www.kingsnake.com) in the reticulated python or ball python classifieds. He mainly works with Platt, Snow, Goldenchilds and Albinos all mixed into Dwarf and SD (no SD Goldens, but 25%Dwarf AGC were available). He's a great guy to work with, but I will admit the shipping was a little bit unorthodox (Glad ware bulk box was used as the outside box, no indication that it was a live reptile or this side up - it was insulated VERY Well, and the snakes were directly over a heated area making them stay warm enough but with only one heater it still got a little bit too cold IMO).

also note that he is the Michael Powell of Virginia. There is another private breeder in California named Michael Powell, and another importer in Texas with a horrid reputation named Michael Powell . . . avoid the Texas one!!

Very nice additions. I've got a platty het anery 75% superjamp and a 100% het anery 100% Kalatoa that will be paired up in a few years. Platty anery and SD snows are some of my favorite snakes out there. I'll be up at Travis's place again on Saturday too. Always a fun day hanging out with him.

Nice! Yeah this Anery is 100% Kalatoa, I'm hoping he's going to be man enough to take on my Jampea girl! She's high % Jampea with no SD influence. Her scale count I did last night on her came out 100% Jampea :-) So we will see!

Great looking snake. Congrats. I recently traded my Super Dwarf Tiger Retic to my friend for his 15' Tiger Retic.

Which scales do you count and what is the total for various localities? I would be curious to see what mine are at (75% SJ, 75% SD, and 100% Kalatoa)
Coming from Travis it had better be Kalatoa... lol. All of Bob's original imports were Kalatoa and nearly all of Travis's stuff that he didn't import himself came from Bob.

http://www.reticulatedpython.info/me/papers/retic%20paper.pdf good read if you're into natural history - this covers Jampea and Selayar in comparison to mainland retics and gave the first look at why they should be deemed subspecies. I have a head scale count for the Kalatoa somewhere . . . I'll see if I can find one quick, I've only counted my Jamp.

I've read the Auliya study before, good stuff.
What was your Jamps and is it the belly (ventral) scales?

Did head scale counts. :) used diagrams from that article

Cool, thanks, I'm interested to see what a 75% superjamp comes out to be... (25% mainland, 37.5% SD, 37.5% Jamp)

I would imagine the head scales may be in relation to Jampea for count but size may be different. Whenever I get time off from work I plan on doing detailed macro shots of the scale structures on the top of all my retics heads - Supers and Jamps, though I'm still waiting for my Jamp Genetic Stripe girl to be ready to ship X-p

I LOVE your taste in snakes. Really glad you joined the site.

My fav in this thread is that Plat Superdwarf.

I heard the Platinum gene is huge, any idea how big that snake will get?

This snake was bred with a pure SD retic female who was 6' at the time of breeding. The male was on the smaller side as a platty retic (can't remember exact size at the moment but I believe he said around 10'). Due to it being 50% mainland, and the fact its a female, I'm expecting it to still reach a solid 10 ft. The platty gene doesnt do much for over all size that I'm too aware of, but I do know that the tiger gene causes animals to grow larger and seemingly faster for some reason which is why most of those monster female tics out there seem to be tiger! My male 50% SD Tiger who is 6 years old is already pushing 9' himself. If you haven't check the link in my signature, lots more pretties there :-)

I'm probably going up to Travis's later today, I'll try and get some macro shots of his pure SDs if I can. Platty doesn't really do a whole lot for size, the ones that I've seen are Tiger, Clark white, and the Sulawesi locality.

I'm a sucker for Platinum...

Thanks! It's appreciated. I have big plans for most of these snakes with multi gene work ups down the line that I do not believe have been done before (mostly in super dwarf). Right now I have my eyes set on to main ones: Super Platty (Ultra ivory) Anery 75% Super Dwarf F2, and Tiger Platinum Anery 75% Super Dwarf! Fingers crossed I should hit these in the next 4-5 years :-)

Got the pictures, some of them were a little sketchy to get because they were hungry SDs and Jamps and the males are ready to breed, so they're not in the best mood now.

Lol, yeah my male SD adult is rearing to breed. . . rubbing hard lately, but he's in shed right now so it has him under control for the time being.

Here is a shot of my Pure Anery Super Dwarf Retic. Finally was able to get him to sit very still by leaving him on some glossy paper with a heater underneath of it. He decided it was best to stay put, and I finally got shots!

Don't feel the need to start a new thread - so I'm adding this one from yesterday. This is my Adult 50% SD Tiger, Poss het albino, Probable het anery. He's pushing 9 ft, and is a beast! Love this guy, he literally glows fresh out of a shed :-)
