Got this girl about a week ago and she was in terrible conditions. I still need to get her a bigger tank but she went from being extremely timid to being my most active snake. She has multiple scars but still is an awesome snake. I've also never experienced a colubrid eating and man I don't know if it's just my snake or what but she almost launched out of the cage for the mouse. Speaking of feeding, could I start her on rats? She has a pretty good size to her.
Lighting makes her look pink but she's mainly white. There's a few yellow specks on her bottom lip and a couple on the bottom side of her neck so I'm thinking she may be a snow or blizzard and not an albino because there's no pattern.

I picked her up from craigslist for $40 with the 10g. The guy had no idea how to take care of it and would leave live mice in the tank with it with a hide made out of scrap wood that had tons of sharp edges. The snake was so stressed it wouldn't even eat and I'm surprised it didn't have any RI because he didn't use any source of heating. There's also a burn on it's under scales that looks like it was from a heat rock... I feel bad for this girl but she's healthy and active now so that's all that matters. I'm also thinking of picking up an albino pastel cali that has nice red/yellow bandings.

If your feeding live I'd stick to the smaller prey... Cool looking snake lol

I feed live with tongs so that the mouse or rat can never really hurt the snake.

She's a beauty! I feed my cali king rat pinks...I'd feed her fuzzies but I have to be careful on the size or she'll regurge it. Everytime I've tried feeing her something bigger than a rat pink (when the pet shop has them) or small adult mice, she regurges without fail. Then I have one hungry pissed off snake I can't feed for two weeks to give her system time to heal from the regurge. She also can't eat multiples or she does the same thing.

I fed her an adult mouse without problem and even two days later she is off the wall flipping her cage around haha.

Yeah, mine goes to looking for food about 2-3 days later. I've tried feeding her more often at the suggestion of a couple of king breeders, but she regurged both times I tried so I just feed her every 7 days. I think she just has a sensitive stomach. My old king would pack them in and never regurged unless you handled him too soon.

She was fine with her cage and acting normal, now she won't go in her hide and is moving non stop. Should I try feeding her again?

When did she last eat? If it's been at least 5 days, it's worth a try. If it were me, I probably would.
I'm not a kingsnake guru though. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable ones will speak up and answer your question. :)

I feed every saturday/sunday depending on what place has what type of food i need. So it was just this weekend, but she's been extremely active which I don't think is a bad thing.
That is a beautiful snake. Nice craigslist pickup, too. Congrats.

What is the temperature gradient?
Kingsnakes will cruise the cage looking for the correct temperature and/or humidity. They will also cruise looking for food or a mate.
The king should be fed when conserving on the cool end, but once a week for an adult should suffice....
@Rogue...
Kingsnakes will not regurge due to size of prey. They regurge if temps for digestion and conservation is not adequate.

BTW...that looks like an Amelanistic Hypermel......A nice, healthy looking one too...
Hypermels are nearly totally black with a faint pattern.
When the melanism is absent (Amel/albino) the phenotype is nearly solid white with that remnant patterning.....

She's only in a 10g right now, temperatures are hard to achieve. I'm going to be upgrading soon though. I can't find a single picture of an amelanistic hypermel, do you know where they might show that morph? And what would happen if I bred her to an albino pastel?

Also how much would my snake actually be worth? I picked her up for $40 plus the cage.
