Waiting for dinner?

So for the past 3 weeks when Ive fed my girl she is always sitting on her hide. As I walk up she comes about 4 inches out and just waits til I feed her...its like she knows its coming.

Anyone else out there have snakes that do this?

My ball kind of does this. Because she can be a bit timid around prey I started thawing the rat right beside her vent. She wakes up and has her head sticking out of the hide within 5 min. But I'm sure if she couldn't smell it she would stay sleeping or hiding or whatever she is doing haha

Are you defrosting the feeders in the same room or the next room? If so they can smell it and go into feeding mode.

I wish mine did that. I started thawing ontop of her tank.

I thaw mine on the far side of the house, three rooms away. I get them out of the freezer and leave them in the kitchen, walk into the living room where the snakes are and my SD retic and JCP will both have their noses to the glass waiting for the food.

The other snakes only get active when i bring the bowl of rats into the room to feed and my GTP wont move a muscle until the prey is under his nose! :)

I defrost mine in the Kitchen ,1 room away from the lounge ,and only once has mine literally flown out to grab it ,it seems to change weekly how mine responds though ,sometimes he'll get right back in the s shape ,other times he just lunges at it ,varies from week to week ,either way it still keeps my heart in good shape :) great video though ,Gorgeous snakes .

Lanky, mine are exactly the same! GTP is the only snake in the colllection that does not come out of his perched position when food is in the air. The retics though will go ape if I thaw in the room!

Until I changed the feeding schedule, everyone knew when it was feed day....noses would be pressed against the tubs waiting for me to go through our feeding day routine. Now everyone is slowly learning when their new feed day is.

One of mine is like this most of the time. If I'm in the room, he's watching me. None of mine strike though, but I don't have any breeding aged mainland males.

Lol one of my carpets is like that - she keeps me in line for feeding schedules ;-) when she asks for food I know everyone is about ready to eat!
