View Full Version : 2011 Male Bredli Going Off Food???
My 2011 male Bredli hasn't ate in 3 weeks. I'm guessing he's going off food due to the change in temps? Is it normal for yearlings to go off food this time of year?

Not for yearling but some will eat less in the winter.
It might be a combination if a few things. I switched to a larger size rat that last time he ate, the change in temps and he looks a little dull(might be going into a shed). I didn't think it was normal for a yearling to stop eating. I'll try again next week, unless he does go into shed, and see what happens.

Just keep the temps stable for now and monitor from there.... If you've just upsized it's prey it will take time for the rest of the methabolism to regulate to the new prey size.
He ate for me yesterday and shed two days earlier. Guess it was the increase in prey size combined with going into shed that made him not eat for almost a month.

my guess would be he stopped eating because was going into shed mate
upping a food size shouldn't make too much difference in a carpets feeding pattern, not at a year old imo
cheers shaun
Thanks Shaun. It did seem to take him longer to shed this go around. He was in the opaque stage for almost 2 weeks.
