Hi just wondering. My wife and I breed mini lop rabbits to sell as pets not food. I was just wondering as when the rabbit has a large litter, more often than not a couple die but I was thinking is this ok to feed the dead ones to my boa or not as the majority of the time they die from being the runt of the litter and to weak. Or am I best avoiding them and buying them from the shop.

i don't know much about rabbits, but id be worried about illness or some sort of infection/parasite. ive heard freezing them on dry ice kills off everything possible. personally id stick with store bought though!!

I'd do it, but that's just me... If they're your rabbits, I'm sure they're probably parasite-free so you wouldn't have to worry about that. I doubt there's any disease a rabbit could transfer to your snakes either.

I would feed them off happily.
for real. the guinea pig i fed yesterday was sickly...just sort of a failure to thrive. Don't see why rabbits would be any different.

I wouldn't hesitate to feed off still borns or failure to thrive babies. Snakes can digest just about anything.

I don't see why not. Just be sure you aren't feeding your rabbits anything with dyes or chemicals and they should be fine for the snakey.

Will do next time I breed. It's just a waste when they just go in the bin.

Do it! Free food is the best kind.

I work at a pet store and I feed my snakes freshly dead or sickly mammals all the time. Never had a problem yet.

I'm breeding my rabbits for snake food. I regulary deworm my rabbits with Panacur, which is a safe dewormer for reptiles. Of course I will not be deworming the babies that will be fed off just my breeding stock before they are bred.
I would much rather see the animal go to use then rot in a landfill
