I saw this snake advertised with the viv and it looks far to small. 5ft by2ft by 2ft for a 14 ft Burmese. If I had it I would buy it for my collection and build a bigger viv

Definitely too small, there is no way that snake can move around easily :(

Personally that looks WAY too small for a burm. Poor thing, I hope whoever buys it will give it a better viv.

Yup way to small a 10x4x4 would be about right.

Love to but not got money for him or a new enclosure. It makes me sick when I see this. They said they selling him as they don't have time to spend with him and doesn't want to neglect him anymore. So he obviously does not get out much.

If I was to purchase this snake I have a 6ft by 2ft by 3ft viv for now. Would this be ok tempory while I build a 8ft by 3ft deep by 4ft high. Is that big enough for a permanent home how much do they eat per week?

Well even the one its in would be fine for a bit more if you built tight away.
Sell the enclosure after to offset material costs. I personaly feel a snake needs a minimum cage size where length plus width is equal or longer than the snake. So a 14' snake needs a 10x4x? Whatever height you like. The snake needs to stretch out. I do not own a burm so if they like a smaller enclosure I would not know but I use that rule for all my snakes other than my carpets but they get extra height. All of this is just my opinion.

The women says she feed him a large rabit every four weeks and a large rate every two weeks between. Is this correct amount?

It is never a good idea to buy an animal out of pity. That just sets you up for a world of hurt if you aren't prepared.

Four feet tall seems really high. Aren't Burms a terrestrial species?

Honestly that seems like a decent schedule. You could probably remove the rats completely though.

On reflection I not getting this snake. It's a big commitment. I not having a snake that size when I have kids and my little dogs. Lol I'm sticking with my boa. Lol hopefully he finds a nice home. Tanks for all the help and advise from every one.

Mine use to love to climb. My 13 footer was in a 8x 4x 4 with round landscaping logs bolted to the size of the cage for branches. It gives them room to stretch and get some exercise.

If you give them the space they'll usually use it. That said sometimes the larger snakes just like the smaller enclosures because they feel more secure in there and they just do better. The rule of thumb isn't L+W, its LxW. So a 14 footer should be in a 5x3 or 7x2 minimum. I would go for the 5x3 myself. Most big snake keepers don't go over 2 ft tall unless its a display enclosure.
You all should read this.

Good, responsible decision. When the time is right there are plenty of retics and burms available out there. You could always get a superdwarf retic or dwarf burm (if you can find one).
