I just adopted a young corn snake and she was checking her cage out last night trying to find an escape route I assume, and when I woke up the temperature gauge was down and she was stuck to the two sticky pads on the back of the gauge! She is trying hard to get off of the and I'm afraid she will skin herself alive! What do I do in this situation???

I'm by far no expert and you need to CHECK THIS ON YOUR OWN TOO, but vinegar in warm water can effectively remove adhesive from most Surfaces and should not be harmful to your snake, This is where I would start, but I'd definitely double check whether vinegar can be harmful first. Just because I didn't find anything to that effect doesn't mean it's not the case (hence the caps lock lol)

And for the future, as you can see, sticky things are BAD. Best of luck for you and your little gal :(

Pure veggie oil and warm water around the adhesive and she wiggled her way free! Some scales on one of the pads but it seems she'll be okay, pretty stressed im sure though :( Buying a new temp gauge that uses suction cups to prevent this from ever happening again.

Obviously it's late now but take this as a lesson as to why a lot of us NEVER use tape, or sticky anything inside our enclosures.

Best way to check temps is a temp gun, I only use the little gauges to double check, but never with tape, or a sticky side.

Good luck getting the tape off, though! Be very careful not to use too much force, scales that are ripped off will not grow back...

Any cooking oil will work my vet had a client who found a snake stuck to a glue trap and thats how they got it off

I used pure veggie oil and warm water and my girl wiggled herself free! Thank goodness, I was very worried. There are a few scales on the sticky pad so I will be keeping a close eye on her, but she seems fine, just stressed obviously.

i have learned the hard way to, their should be a huge sign that says, SNAKES DO NOT MIX WITH TAPE!!!.. it reminds me of snails and salt... just a bad combination

Get a digital thermometer.. The stick on dial ones are obviously dangerous and are very in accurate.. I use a temp gun personally.
