White Lipped Python.

So a month ago when i decided to re home my male bloods. (Decide not to breed them.) I had a guy offer to trade me a Pastel and Spider ball pythons. Knowing my buddy Shawn has been wanting a Spider Ball. So i did the trade. Shawn had been talking about selling his White Lipped Python. Which i have been wanting one for some time. So i got him to trade me his White Lipped for My Spider Ball.

Any way meet my newest pet.(yet to be named) We believe him to be a early 2012.

is he tank/viv defensive ?

all the white lips i've seen are nasty while getting them out the tank,then they settle down,ito little angels once you get them out

He is hook trained. Once on the hook he will climb on your hand and then he fine. I have held him many times over at Shawn's has never struck or bit. He has pissed or musk Shawn quite a few times her lately, but hasn't do it to me yet anyway. Hopefully it stays that way.

This is why Shawn wanted to get rid of him, but every time i handle him he been fine. It funny Shawn the one that gave me my Coastal Carpet said it bit him all the time. Since i have it not so much as a strike. I am being to think Shawn's turning into a big wuss.

Wow such a cool snake, you don't see them very often~! Quite the sight for sore eyes to. It's a shame they are listed as an 'obscure' python possibly because of their temperment but maybe someday when I grow up i'll get one.
The white lipped python is for sure on my wish list for the future :D

So i got some back ground info. He is a Northern White Lipped Python (WLP). So he will stay on the smaller side. The Northern are also called the Golden White Lipped.
So i had to clean his cage so i got some pictures and about 5 minutes of handling. He darker than normal so i think he maybe going into shed.

Thanks Kyle! Yeah i noticed those to. They look like scars not sure what they are from. I asked Shawn and he said he had them when he got him. So i would guess battle scars. As we think he might have been house with other WLP before Shawn got him.

White-lipped pythons are one of the few snakes that will sometimes cough up hair balls from the rodents they eat. I believe it's called Chucking if i remember correct. So can you guess what i found in it water bowl this morning? That's right some wet fur balls.
:eek: Shawn said he actually watch him do it a couple times.

Yep it's normal for White Lips. Shawn said he does it about 3 to 4 days after eating. Which it was 4 days after he ate for me.

So he just shed a perfect shed for me while i was at work. :)
Here's some pictures for you Lori. Not the greatest as he did want to sit still and was in a bad mood. he gave me about a dozen close mouth strikes. So i did mess with him to much. I figure like my Bloods he can be testy for a couple days after shedding. I'll give him a couple days and gets some more.

I did notices the more worked up he got the darker he turned.

Haha he's a chubby little guy. Looks awesome! He's at the point where he's starting to get the stocky WLP head too. I found the younger ones have a pretty narrow pointy head.

Thanks! He kind of on the dark side in the pictures because after taking the pic of his cage i got him out of his hide and he let me handle him for about a 4 minute. Bare hands even. So by the time i started taking picture he was getting worked up.
