So I just picked up another burm, big 13 maybe 14ft male and very girthy for a male. I need to temporarily put him in a enclosure while I build him a new one that is more suitable.

I have a 2' tall x 2' deep x 7' cage and a 2 1/2' tall x 2 1/2' deep x 5' long enclosures available at the moment. A 7 ft female needs to go in one of them and this big male in the other.

So question is what do you think would be better to temporarily put him in, the shorter cage with wider/more floor space or the longer cage that's more narrow? I'am personally thinking the short wider cage just because there is alot more room for him to coil up versus the narrow one.

I would put him in the longer one. It will give him more room to stretch. How big of a cage are you building him? Plus what kind of cages are the one your going to temporarily house him in plastic or wood?

I'll prob build him a 8x3x3. The cages are made of wood for the most part with panels and vinyl on the interior.

I asked because i seen a Retic that size smash the side out of a poorly build wood cage. They used freaking paneling nails and cheap particle broad to put the sides on. She was coiling up against the side of the cage when it blew out.

Btw we love to see pictures of him and your girl.:)

Yeah the ones I build are fairly sturdy, it actually a walled frame with insulation never had a issue yet. There is a pic of one of my enclosures and the female on my intro thread and in the enclosures section. I'll get pics of this big guy up shortly.

Ok i just check out your other threads and that is one heavy duty cage. That should work just fine.

Well I put him in the 7x2x2 and he looked pretty cramp'd especially when turning around or coiling up on himself. So I put him in the 5'x2'6"x2'6" and he's got a little more room to coil around but pretty cramp'd in here too as you can see lol! Going to have and rush build a 8x3x3. What a brute!!

It's a vinyl flooring, picked up a roll for $20. Looks good and super easy to clean.

Good looking for sure but this is why I would never get an animal I didn't already have proper housing for..
