For these next short entries, we are profiling our four holdbacks from the 2011 Hills-Alex litter. Born on September 14, 2011, all four just hit their one-year birthdays, and are shaping up nicely. We will cover two babies a week over the next two weeks. This is part two of the four-part series.

Morganite is the little diva of the litter. She is the camera-savvy one (having featured in her own Easter photo spread), and still manages to surprise with shifts in attitude, from being a sweetheart one day to not wanting to have anything to do with you on another. She also had a temper tantrum at one point, deciding I was bothering her too soon and spitting her meal back up in retaliation -- the only Living Gems baby I’ve ever had do so. (She recovered fine, and has never done so again.)

Here is Morganite as of her birth in September 2011:

Here she is at six months in March 2012:

And here she is at one year in September 2012:

She now weighs 240 grams (up from 185 when I wrote this), placing her about even with the usual growth curve for a Brazilian of her age. Going forward, we hope she will develop into a solid red specimen.

Thank you for reading,

Simple, look at the clean head patterns on her as a baby, dark lines with little to no dark blushing between the lines. Fast forward a year and still the same but with more color!!!

Great holdback!!

Thanks Chuck! She's turning out *really* well for what I regarded as the second-best female in the litter.

Thanks Aaron! With any luck, we may be in a position to help you out with that one day. ;-)
