I am setting up a dubia colony and will be using a uth to heat the tub. My question is should I use a thermostat on my uth. My heat pad is old and crappy.

Even more of a reason to use a thermostat. Old and crappy can malfunction easily and cause it to overheat.

Yeah... it tops out at 85-88°f.

I probably will use a thermostat. I have two spares.
