hey all, just rescued a mack snow leo from someone who had NO CLUE what he was doing. He recieved the gecko a few months ago from a neighbour who moved away and left it with him. i asked when the last time he ate was? he said a couple months........:unibrow:

i asked whens the last time you provided water? he said around the same time:angry:

anyway he gave me him for free admitted he didn't know what to do and didn't want it. i have the gecko in my basement right now just incase of parasites/mites, in a tupperwear container. kind of small but will do for a couple days until i can find my bigger tubs :tired1_2:

anyway here's a pic of him he's about 6 inches, and very thin. tip of hi tail missing and closed up. (told me it was like this for as long as he had it, is it possible that it will never grow back??)
just keep a lookout for later posts of this guy he will be up and healthy in no time!

Awww! He's so cute! :D He looks like he's gained a little weight.

I'm pretty ignorant about geckos. Can their tails grow back?

thanks alot guys! he just has a full belly there but i've decided to name him chomper. he snaps at every thing that moves past his tank.

and rogue yes their tails do grow back, but the prevous owner told me this ones been like this for long, and he hasnt seen any growth so im not too sure

im thinking since he wasnt fed properly he couldnt grow it back

The lack of food would not be the reason for the tail tip not regenerating. (Although if the previous owner was serious and it has been "a couple months" since the leo was fed or given water, I'm amazed it was still alive to begin with.) No the tail tip will never grow back. In order for regeneration to happen, if I'm recalling correctly, the entire tail would need to be lost. But being that a new tail on a leo never looks as good as the original (often poorly shaped -- even "deformed" in appearance -- and miscolored), he stll will look better like this than if he had had to regrow a tail.

I have seen Leos regrow parts even just the tip of their tail. And yes he was serious about a couple months. The gecko barely moved at first and would have a hard time to even grab a mealworm. Now he eats like a horse, and finishes off his mealworm dish in the blink of an eye

lol i'd definitely say go for it.. i really can't find ANYTHING wrong/difficult about keeping these guys.

i love this pic. Chomper seems to be the most curious leopard gecko i have ever owned. dukey will just lay around i'm lucky if i get a shot of him facing the camera, but this guy will follow anything that moves.
