Hey guy's since i've had my IJ carpet he's always taken his food why I feed him, but the last 2 weeks he's refused them from me!
He had a shed 3 weeks ago which was a bad one, but all sorted now, just wondering why he wouldnt take it as this is the 2nd time he refused.
Any ideas? Cage and heating and humidity are all spot on for him.
It wouldnt be my cat he's after?? lol

He just doesn't want to eat if everything is actually "spot on."
Sorry to hijack your thread, but I'm having the same issue with my female Bredli. I recently increased the size of rat I'm offering her and she has no interest. I figure she will eat when she's good and hungry.

Only offer every two weekes until it starts eating again and then you wont waste so many rats, as long as the temps ARE ok (along with humidity) then dont worry :)

The most likely answer to your problem is that there is no problem and you have nothing to worry about.
However just in case It would be a good idea to post as much info about your setup, temps, humidity, age and size of snake how long you have had the snake etc.
Most people get too worried when their snake refuses a meal but it will happen, my opinion is to try every two weeks, if the snake is already well fed then after about 6 months of refusing then that would be a good time to start to worry, and you will still have plenty of time to figure a solution. Good luck and pics would really be cool.

If he's having bad sheds, your husbandry is less than likely "spot on"...

My Granite Carpet eats two small rats at a time, and refuses mediums.
Carpets can get a preference for prey size, too.

Thanks. I never thought of prey size fixation.

He had one bad one in the 5.5months of having him, and has always taken food when offered, plus he was a replacement to the one that died (no fault of mine) from my breeder so im just worried that he doesnt end up going wrong!!
And the husbandry is 'spot on' since he shed so im right in saying that!

imo your temps are fine, age wise its still a little young to be breeding season issues, that said young snakes have been known to go off food during breeding season
out of all the carpets i keep and have kept,i found irians with absolutely no change in their husbandry, can have random bad sheds every now and then, imo they like a little more humidity than all the other carpets, during the shedding proccess
i have a female that has had 2 bad sheds,in the 2 year i've had her in my care
snakes can and do go off their food for no apparant reason every now and then,so i would'nt be too worried mate
cheers shaun

For whatever reason, IJs and Jungles tend to be picky when it comes to food. You just have to be more stubborn than the snake :) also, sometimes snakes just have bad shed for no reason either. I recently picked up an adult burm while she was in shed and was expecting the worst (her original conditions were pretty bad) and she shed great. She just shed again this week, after misting everyday and keeping humidity 60-80%, and it was a crap shed. No explanation. Sometimes our babies do weird stuff for no reason and we freak out for equally no reason ;)
