Since they keep jumping out as it is, I decided this would be safer.

Tell you what, I have some shrimp thawing right now. I'll take some stills.

And more video.:D

It's just scraps of wood, a little glue and some screws. The random wood pieces were scraps from an enclosure project, so total cost.. under $1 (including 1 glue stick & a dozen screws.)

I love the videos Wayne! It's amazing to see those two just grow and mature right before our very eyes:D

The little dork does a fall-down trying to get a worm at 0:53 hahaha...they're not really food-driven, are they?

So will they eventually have the run of the room with that ladder always up, or will they be confined to the vivarium unless closely supervised?

This is an absolute genius way of removing them from their enclosure.

Props!

That was a really neat idea... They have gotten so big Wayne...not long ago you posted photos of them barely big enough to take up the space of your hand. Time fliesss... Looking forward to those new pics you'll take!

The rope allows me to swing food really fast and make them chase it.

This one is Cera, look into the eye, Cera never stops staring, always very alert. When Cera locks into eye contact, not even a blink... it's spooky how intense that lizard's stare is.

Littlefoot on the other hand looks all around, checking everything out.

So in those pics, LF has the dirty face and Cera is giving the evil eye lol Does LF explore more than Cera then? Is he more friendly and outgoing while Cera is a bit more reserve, a little less trusting, and taking in the finest of details? Are there general personality differences between the sexes in savs?

It's fascinating how these two are coming along. You've done wonders with these guys. You make Chomper proud, Wayne :)

Can we Get pitures, specs and a break down of your enclosure?
Does it have glass around it or is it all open i've seen lots of pics but can't tell if you have it enclosed or it's just open for them to roam...
I think it's amazing and want some ideas for my Savy Permanent enclosure.

Kind regards,

its a basically a box with sliding glass front mesa thinks. 8x4 cages with doors that swing open would be impractical. roof, floor, 3 walls, sliding glass front. you have to confine them to their enclosure or you will have lizards running around your house.

And that's not the biggest issue with free roaming, a bigger concern is that a house is not a suitable habitat for a monitor lizard, and if the cage is left open all the time, it won't be a very good home either..

Read this page... It will explain everything in great detail.

Captive Monitor Health! (http://www.varanid.us/gout/)

I only allow them out of the cage for about 10 minutes a week TOTAL. That's maybe one quick venture out every few days for a minute or two at a time.

Currently as I type this post, the humidity in Togo Ghana (Africa) is 74%, I check daily and this is a low number, usually humidity is in the 80%+ ranges.

We cannot replicate this without a properly sealed enclosure, and allowing them to roam around in our houses is really bad for their health. Most homes have far lower humidity and most walls would grow black mold and rot if we tried to keep our houses that dank inside.

12 hours later.... the same weather station.

Yesterday's thunderstorm jacked up the humidity a bit!

Click the TOGO weather button at sav.net.

There is also a Ghana weather button for the Accra weather station in Ghana.
