Was over at a friends house tonight to pick up a long tailed lizard and my daughter was sad that I could not afford to spend out landish fees on craigslist for one. My friend disappereared for a few minutes and came out with a 3 month old baby beardie and handed it to her and said it was ours to keep! My daughter was so happy she started to cry and ran to Kelsey hugging her tears and all. It was priceless wish I had a video camera. So she named it snuggles since it likes to snuggle on you and chill out! Will take pics tomorrow with my daughter and snuggles!

The best and worst thing about this hobby is that it is a smaaall world and that makes it really hard to hide stuff...

For instance I find it very interesting that you neglected to mention that this animal has also died in your care here but blab about it elsewhere.

How can you explain that? Can't blame it on "not being established" because at 3 months beardies are very hearty.

I would looooooove to hear the answer to this one

The short answer? No.

I hate it, I feel terrible doing it. I am actually a really nice person

I'm editing because I forgot to answer your question as to "who gives me the right?" and my answer is absolutely no one.

I just don't want to read another non-apologetic thread saying well this "died because it starved to death" and then have this person run around like they do everything just fine. I can't stomach it

It makes our hobby into a joke.

To be completely honest I was expecting such the minute this was posted forever ago, beardies are not a very good choice to just 'take home' (not saying any animals are) but it seems like a very bad situation, unless you were completely planning on the animal prior I would have waited until everything was situated before even thinking about taking it.

My heart is breaking for every animal that has died, and i am extremely disturbed at the amount of animals that have died in such a short period of time :(

I have no respect for anyone that does not own up to their mistakes, especially when their mistakes result in the death of an animal. It is even more horrific when a person does not learn from previous errors, and continues down that path due to their own ego. No animal should suffer for a persons arrogance and ignorance. If you cannot properly care for any animal, and learn how to care for said animal, then that person should not accept the responsibility for the animal.

Also as you stated she was saying it on other forums, which makes it public knowledge as far as i'm concerned. iBaman, honestly as Ladybug stated she didn't spy on her, she has made this information public elsewhere, her reasons for not sharing it here are obvious to me.

it's sad, yes. but who's to say it wasn't an accident? no one is perfect. Heck, i just found my retic after 4 days after he escaped. does that make me horrible and ignorant and arrogant? can't judge until you know the story. guilty until proven innocent.

Animals may die but when it reoccurs with REALLY basic species I call foul.

Also, I, as Sir Awesome, give the right to Lady to air laundry :D

I resurrected this thread to give people the opportunity to grow a pair and admit that there are some issues with their collection, i had heard that more animals had died in thsi collection and hoped they would admit it.

There is obviously an issue either with husbandry or illness running through the animals and if it was my collection i would have them on lock down, no animals in or out, and have them all checked by a reputable vet.

Sadly it seems that lessons arent being learnt and more animals are going to die :(

I have just one question what the heck is up with force feeding every thing? In 20 years of having snake and back in the day lizards to i have never had to force feed any snake or lizard. If they were sick as soon has i them healthy again they would start eating when they were ready.

Force feeding is the most stressful thing you could ever put a sick reptile through.

We really don't blame your gf as it is clear that you are the one telling her what to do. She is new and inexperienced ( at least I hope so). Pets aren't just things you have and if they happen to break, oh well, no big deal. They're not china dolls. They're living, breathing, feeling creatures that deserve the best lives and the ultimate respect, and anyone who won't give them that should step out of the way and let others do it instead of killing them over and over and over and over again. How any stupid pills are you popping Gary? Kind of slightly off the current topic of this thread, but I was wondering about the initial post about the cost of a long tailed lizard being too high? Are they more expensive in other parts of the country because here in South Carolina they are $8-9 at most. Is this because they are native to here? I've caught/released many of them.

Also, not to pick sides or anything, but several people have said there are inconsistencies about the daughter being given the lizard without her knowledge and her post here - I read them as being consistent. She wasn't planning on getting the bearded, her friend left the room and came back with the bearded and handed it to her daughter telling her it was hers without checking with her first to make sure it was okay. As a parent, I have to say at that point it is VERY difficult to take an animal away from a child (on top of the disappointment of not getting the long tailed lizard like they had planned) and I'd probably be a little upset with that person for putting me in that position.

Not going to wade into the animal care topic. I'm too new to reptiles and trying to soak up as much as I can still.

Uh as much as it would upset a child to say no I would think a good parent would understand that an animal is a responsibility and therefore I believe tough love should be an option.

If they couldn't afford a lizard, which you say is a cheap animal, I feel they should have realized they couldn't afford a lizard they were not setup for in the first place.

You may be right.

Going back to my initial question in this thread about the initial post mentioning long tailed lizards being too expensive - I was curious and here was a post on Craigslist the day before her announcement of getting the bearded, offering a long tailed lizard for $5 in the same city as her (assuming her profile is correct). few reptiles and animals to rehome (http://desmoines.craigslist.org/pet/3345063653.html)

This whole thing is confusing to me. Nothing seems to fit.

Like I said. It doesn't matter because you all rabid in your bloodthirstiness and I'm through with you. Any mod, if you're reading this please remove my membership. Have a nice life y'all.

Your basic inability to respond with simple answers to simple questions just proves who the immature person is in all this.

IF you are so great with reptiles then show us these animals?
IF it is all fantasy then a simple dated picture will prove they are still alive
IF people were just flaming and spreading lies and gossip about MY animals or MY sbility to keep them i would/could easily dispel everything by showing pictures of my healthy happy reptiles in their nice enclosures.

IF you leave then all you prove is that everything said here about you and RMF is true.

Your choice - man up and prove us wrong or keep acting like a child and prove us all right

I have mostly kept quiet but My honest thought is that any person acting the way you 2 are (exwizard and rmf) Should be banned from the forum in hopes that at least this way you won't be spreading any of your false ways to new members. I hope that you re-home every living thing in your house before you kill them. I am sickened by you two.

What? I don't get a mention.

Looks like I'm no longer needed anymore.

Gary, it was a pleasure. I'd just like to point out I knew you were an idiot from the start. You knew it too and I never let you get away with it. Thanks for showing the rest your true colours!

Please never return to our forum.

To stay on topic, I'm sure this beardie is in a better place.

Chuck, said it best, how can you force feed SO OFTEN with so many hardy, simple species? You obviously don't know what you're doing. Please don't breed any of your snakes.

OK ok, everybody PM me which South Park character you are, i'll enlarge the picture and add everyone I can fit.

No but seriously. Don't.

Korbin, I pictured you looking like Randy more than any of the others in there, was I wrong? Haha,,,

I mean, Randy is kind of the VILLAGE IDIOT.
