I went to go shower earlier and a silly spider almost landed on my head!

I'm really trying to get over the whole fear of spiders issue. I have a tarantula I care for. I also have found webs in and out of the house that I leave alone. As long as I can see them on the web I'm fine.

What I'm NOT ok with is them dropping in for a surprise visit. It missed my head by about an inch and rested on the tub. The first thing I did was squeal lol. Then I tried running, but the door was closed and I couldn't turn the handle to open it before I calmed myself down haha. Next I crept over to it to get a closer look. It's kind of reddish with a bubble butt (abdomen) and its legs are short, not long like an orb weaver or cellar spider. It's body was a bout the size of a dime with it's legs making it appear as large as a nickel, although I don't think they were fully stretched out.

I ran to get my cell phone for a quick pic but when I returned it had went back up it's silk to the ceiling. I tried to get a better pic, but that was impossible. The two I managed to take came out too blurry to attempt to post. I guess I was shaking that bad.... lol

So I had a talk with my new sort of unwanted friend. I told him he had to stay up there or one of us was going to get hurt, possibly both of us because if he dropped down again, I'd probably try to run and wet feet on the bathroom floor spells disaster! lol

So he sat and stared at me the whole time I showered, the freaky little thing. I rushed my shower in order to get out of his way if he decided to drop by again.

Months ago I would have begged the boyfriend to either catch it and put it outside or put it out of my misery...he wasn't miserable where he was...I was!

I just checked again and he's still hanging around in there. Literally. As long as he stays in there and doesn't decide to join me in bed...EVER...I'll be fine with him. :D I didn't see a web so I'm assuming I have a new housemate. I hope he cleans up after himself or he'll get evicted.....

For the record, I live in southwest Oklahoma if anyone wants to attempt to figure out what he is. I looked and he looks more along the lines of a sac spider from pictures I found, but I'm not positive.

You'd have to post a pic, my dear. Quite possible that as you were showering some water droplets flew up and either hit the spider or came close to doing so. Under such circumstances (if that was what had happened), a spider would likely drop fearing it was under attack.

The spiders and I have an agreement...stay out of the bathtub while I'm showering and you get to live. I try not to kill the others in the house either...but Harlo does, so she's sort of my knight in fuzzy armor. I'm getting a pink toe tarantula (waiting for it to ship!) so i can feel more secure (I like spiders in cages rather than around my house).

I have something similar to Ibaman's agreement, but the location is different.

They stay out of my bed / bedroom space, and I won't even think of purposefully bugging them. However if they are near my bed or in my sheets, sorry buddy but I don't want a bug bite. :(

I've still got three of those False widow spiders in my living room, at least three adults. I've noticed more babies though :D
