Hey,
I just received three 48 inch Boaphile cages with heat panels installed and I love them, but I have yet to put my animals in them because of the silicone smell. I ran the RHP for over a week with the cages open, but when I shut them up I still get a silicone smell. The smell has gotten much better and is not nearly as strong as when I first turned he RHP on. Any one else have this experience with Boahile or any other cages? Thanks and I look forward to being part of his wonderful forum.

What did you use to clean them before you set them up?

I just wiped them down with a wet cloth. When the still smelled I used some windex like Jeff Ronne suggested.

My boaphiles with flexwatt never smelled like silicone so it's probably the RHPs. From what I've read researching RHPs once the worst of the smell is gone it's not an issue for your animals. Maybe call the RHP manufacturer if you're really concerned.

Thanks for the input guys,
I just want to get the animals in their new homes so it is frustrating. The smell is diminishing but slowly.

Follow up here. The smell was the RHP. It has faded a greatly but took longer than it should have! It helped when I put the snake, water, substrate in the age, really cut the smell. I have a too sensitive nose perhaps.
