I haven't been posting much here lately, but I though some of my old friends here might like to see an update of my critters.

This is our oldest, Malaki, a 7'+ 10 year old male Burm. He's been in good care for a little over a year now since his rescue. He continues to thrive with us and is still the friendliest snake I've ever seen. I know they're not supposed to crave human interaction, and most of our others tolerate it, but Malaki really seems eager to be out & about meeting people.

Here's a somewhat more recent shot of him.

Next, and I know this is the python section but he's the only oddball, is Mario, our hypo BCI. He's not as eager to come out and meet people, but he's a total gentleman when the time comes. He has never so much as hissed at anyone.

Next is our 50% SuperDwarf Tiger retic. He's not growing as quickly as I thought, but he remains quite healthy and is starting to develop the fabled retic feeding response so I imagine he's due for a growth spurt about any time.

And Sidney, the wild-type royal.

Jethro, enchi. I couldn't get him to hold still long enough to get a pic with his head.

I missed Hetty the yellow belly female because she for some reason had a bad shed and got a bath instead of outside for pictures.

Jerome, the JCP.

and finally, another non-python. Winston our Hognose.

Lovely looking collection, is Jerome a black and white JCP or is it the picture (or my phone's screen) making him look white?

I love both the selection and the photography. I enjoyed the pictures of Malaki in particular.

Absolutely beautiful snakes. Taking the pictures in the sun really highlights the beauty of their coloration.

Donnie, Jerome isn't white. He's more yellow than that pic shows, it's probably not your phone's screen the sunlight washed it out, but he's definitely not a super yellow high end JCP. I love him though.

Kettennatter, if you do a search on "Malaki" in the Giants section there are a bunch more of him as well as his story. Poor guy has had a rough life.

Thanks Rob. Tyrion is one of my favorites. He's tough to get pics of though because he won't hold still and the only camera I have is my iPhone. He was freshly shed and I tried and tried to capture the irridescence I could see with my eyes but only a couple photos showed it.

But here are a few more, untouched, pics of him.

Ah, what a poor "little" guy. That is something that struck me with burms: While they are large and strong snakes they generally appear to be very calm and are not easily startled. The ones I dealt with so far also responded exceedingly well to handling.

Thanks Zoo Nanny (great screen name BTW). And thanks Chuck that means a lot coming from you.

Kettennatter, he is the friendliest of the three Burms I've been around but they're all sweeties. People talk about Burms like they just sit still all he time but that's not really the case. Malaki is a squirmy Burm. I think they're only sedate by comparison to retics. Lol

oh my gosh, those eye pics! I adore when they are looking away at something. Sooo cute! And they are ALL beautiful. You know i'm fond of the hoggies, but some of these others are sweet.
Kinda cool to see a bigger pastel. I wondered how the color on mine would hold up as he ages.
Thanks Norm! I love all your critters! I kind of love all critters in general, but these are particularly nice ; )

They're all really nice looking and coming along well. I love Jerome, but Malaki has my heart lol. He's looking quite handsome as always. He's done well in yours and Becky's care. :D

His attitude/personality may be a burm thing. My two are the same way, especially my sweet Allie. She recognizes me over others, will go off exploring (I'm always watching) but will come back to me. She also follows me around the room when I'm doing stuff. I have to be careful where I step when I have her out. All my others are like "FREEDOM!!!!!" and goes crazy with exploring but she seems to like being close by me. She may just feel safe around me or maybe she's plotting and waiting for me to turn my back so she can escape...who knows lol She's definitely a smart one :D

Yea, none of the others have Malaki's backstory.

When we take Malaki out to the yard he always aims for somewhere we don't want him to go so we always have to redirect him before he gets there. Somehow I doubt he'd come back to me though. lol

Rob, no nothing new. Malaki continues to thrive. I do believe he's getting a bit longer. He was nearly 8' last time I attempted to measure him but he looks like he's grown some. Just longer though, he doesn't seem to be getting any bigger around. He's a super snake and we just love him.

These pics were from the last day we had that was warm enough to have snakes outside so it'll be spring before we get any more good ones. In the house the pics just don't do the snakes justice.

Well thanks. You can get really good pics w/ an iPhone you just need really good light and to shoot a bunch of photos. It's frustrating when you get just the shot you want, but it's focused on the wrong thing. One of these days I want to buy a really nice camera to make it easier to get good pics.
