Any tips on getting him use to me, I'm getting sick of being musked!! lol I pick him up with a paper towel around his back end and hold it until he closes his vent and stops musking!

Nice lookin king! Try a snake hook first and be very gentle. And just give him time to get used to you, short but frequent handlings worked well for me. Don't approach him from above try to scoop him up from either side, anything trying to grab him from above will be thought of as a predator

Hope this helps a little

Colubrid musk reminds me of childhood. Many days I came home, fetid hands with hours old dry blood and fecal matter caked in the creases of my fingers from the days spoils. It was all catch and release back then, but the musk stayed with me. Ah, memories.

I used to make Anoles and small ring necked snakes bite my ear lobes at school and with friends as a trick. I called them my lizard/snake earrings and they would just chill their supported against gravity by their firm bite on my flesh for a few good minutes. Occasionally the ring necks would musk my neck area and I was forced to walk around the rest of the day with a very fine cologne of colubrid musk emitting from my normally very attractively smelling jugular region. If it was socially acceptable to smell that way, I wouldn't have minded so much.

I read somewhere that "wearing" a piece of material like a sock or facecloth under your clothing for a couple days and then placing the item in the snakes favorite hide can help a snake become more familiar with your scent and thus more relaxed around you.
