awesome...i was really into pyromelena sp. when there was 3 or 4 subspecies...have they fixed that or changed that John?

Thanks...
There is a recent paper that declared all Pyromelana south of the Mongollon Rim to be L. knoblochi. Those north of the Rim remained L. p. pyromelana and north and west of their range is L. p. infrabialis (Utah Mt. King).

L. p. woodini has been sunk for a while.

BTW....most people do not agree with the recent pyromelana paper, and just because it is published does not mean that it has to be accepted.

I still consider all subs by phenotype and not their DNA. Soon those scientists will find out that all snakes are related somehow.....duh!......lol

i thought for sure infrabialis would of been sunk too...dont the black gap T.p.p. have the same characteristics(bands dont connect on belly and 9 labial scales) as infrabialis?

I'm not aware of any black gap pyros.
There are Black Gap gray banded kings (Alterna).
Maybe you meant a different locale?
Unless there is another Black Gap.

Interesting.....
I haven't ever seen anyone working with Black Gap Pyros.
I take it, you are referring to Black Gap, Arizona on HWY 85 South of Gila Bend?
If so, I'd love to see photos of any pyros from that area.....

And, per the new paper those would be considered Knoblochi......But, as I mentioned, the paper is to accepted among most of us hobbyists.
