I'm really not that interesting, so I'm sure no one has noticed the changes in my signature. Over the past few weeks I sold my Rosy, (just didn't enjoy him, think I'd like a KSB better) and also sold my Okeetee. I added a Wild Type and cash on the Okeetee sale. I didn't put a picture up of the Wild because it's one of those that people try to pass of as an Okeetee, but isn't. Just a run of the mill snake.

Anyway, I got a good deal today on a yearling Cal King, and an adult Florida King - both female. The yearling seems pretty tame, but the Adult is feisty. As soon as I put her in her new enclosure she shed completely. I measured it, she's about 4 1/2ft. Rough measurement on the yearling 20-22". The seller, who is a local Ball dealer mentioned he was just trying to move these snakes, and doesn't deal with them much - so they haven't eaten in 2 weeks...This with the shed might be contributing to the attitude of the adult. I normally feed on Sundays, but since these two have not had anything to eat, does anyone think I should try to give them a bite before Sunday? (no pun intended)

I had the yearling out for a minute, but forgot to get a good picture. I didn't want to disturb them too much, and with the FL King being so defensive...I figured I'd just get a sub par cell phone of the yearling in her enclosure, and just post up the sellers pic of the adult. Here they are in not so great quality.

Did I mention the adult was really defensive?

Hit me a couple of times, not the first, won't be the last. She is still a doll though.

Thanks, I'm really excited about it. I've got 3 Kings now. It's a toss up between Milks or Kings for my favorite reasonably priced snakes. (as you can see I don't have any real "fancy" snakes) But Cheers, Kings FTW.

Not the best picture of her, but she seems pretty thick to me for a Cali, I could be wrong, and if I am by all means correct me. I like to keep my snakes labeled. I know the females are usually bigger, but don't Cali Kings stay 4ft or at least less than 5, no?

I'm not going by size...I am going by pattern.
Maybe a better pic will show the Floridana pattern better, but to me it looks like a Floridana X Californiae cross.......
And I've seen some big california kings before.

Yeah, she does look like a cross IMO but im no expert. Cal. Kings can def. Get over 5' tho... and they can get pretty thick depending on what they eat, obviously a wild king living on mainly lizzards and the occasions rodent will be thin but get em on rats and watch lol

Well, I'll get a better picture later, and if the consensus is that, then so be it. Either way I am satisfied. I was really hoping to get an opinion on whether anyone thinks I should try to give them something to eat before Sunday. I know it's only been two weeks, but it's already been two weeks. Does that make sense? Thanks guys.

I would try it. I usually dont wait to long before feeding anyways.

Thanks Chris

Well, I let 'em settle in a couple hours, and thawed some food. Little girl went first, snatched it right up, shaking her tail the whole time, pretty good feeding response. Took maybe 5-7minutes to constrict and get it down. Then I offered the adult one, and damn, none of my snakes seem to feed as aggressive as she did. She snatched it right up, coiled it throughout the whole body, including tail. So after she snatched it up I went to the bathroom, 20-30seconds? And I came back to see the first feeding in my custody, and all I got to see was the hind legs and tail going down...None of my snakes have ever eaten this quickly. I know it had been a couple weeks, but whoa...I missed the show, and forgot to take a better picture...Oh well I'll get it up in a couple days after they digest a bit. I cant wait till Sunday! :) :)

Very cool! Yeah I know jlassiter doesn't wait before feeding either. If I do wait its only to get all my snakes on the same schedule. The first feeding is always the best (so long as you don't discover you have a problem feeder lol)

Just wanted to post a couple better pictures of the Female King for a second opinion. Still think it looks like a cross?
