Ok so while looking for info on ackies I keep running into stuff about blue spot timors. Noticing they are some times called dwarf blue spot timor. I thought the "original" timor was a dwarf species... so how big does the blue spot get? I saw an add that said 12"?

Ah yes, the peacock monitor. I keep these guys. Fun little critters, though they are very secretive. If you don't mind having some empty cage syndrome, then you can consider these.
My female is probably around the twelve inch mark. Males are a little larger. Mine is about 16? 18? inches... This is just eyeballing, as they won't be handled. Despite their size, they need a bit of room. Even though they are very secretive they are quite active.

varanus auffenbergi...
a very shy difficult species to breed due to there secretive habits i.e. guessing when shes laid eggs given you never see the damn things.
they average 18" to 2'
Basically deep substrate good size swimming area plenty of hide.
Shed loads of hides...
and dont handle em...
youll know there in there cause of the poop...
BB the lass must be a right midget mine was 12" long at 4 months.
Oh and there tricky buggers to visually sex...
Theres not a massive difference between males and females...

Ok, thank you both very much. I just hate seeing or reading about things and not being sure if its bs or not. I have no interest in them other than the curiosity if they were really as small as I read or if it was some fluke stunted growth problem being used as a selling point.
Again thank you both.

I'm just guessing here. I've never actually measured them.

Measure something in the enclosure then wait till they rest up against it.
Gives you a better idea of size.

That's a decent idea.

I tried this once.... I just sat the measure in the cage and waited.

Wish me luck catching them out. Lol.
A beautiful species for sure, but very secretive. I never saw much of mine at all. Very hard to observe and it takes a lot of guesswork to achieve breeding success.
