Supplies:
-1 plastic sushi box (or other suitable piece)
-Scissors
-Hot glue gun with sticks
-Terrarium moss (1/2 box)
-A few fake leaves
-Lighter

Step one:
Plastic side down, cut a hole in the side of the black part large enough for your reptile to access safely.

Step two:
With your lighter, burn the edges of your fresh cut. This minimizes the risk of your pet hurting itself on sharp edges.

Step three:
Apply moss. I started by applying the glue directly to the moss, but I would advise against that. It resulted in a few burnt fingers. I found it worked best when I applied the glue to the box. Continue until the top and the sides of the box are covered in moss. There will be no need to cover the clear bottom. That will be buried in the substrate.

Don't do:

Step four:
Place your leaves. Glue over the stems of the leaves, and add moss on top to hide the glued stems.

Adding the moss-

Step one:
After the outside dries, open your box.

Step two:
Add moss to the inside, just up to the lip of the clear side.

Step three:
Moisten your moss, either by pre-soaking it (which you will do before step two), or by spraying it with water (pictured).

Step four:
Close your box. It's ready to go!

Final outcome- The clear bottom is buried in the substrate, allowing for easy access for your reptiles. I used mine for leopard geckos.

Use a Sterilite box instead of a sushi box!

Nice work, BB. The step-by-step instructional photos will definitely help those who are interested in making one themselves. It also looks nice and natural, which is a plus.

Using it for leos is very ideal. They like to poop in a single corner. Just note you should change the outside moss every so often due to bacteria build up with other animals who like to poop more carelessly.

This thread makes me miss keeping LEOS!!! it's cool to see you house multiple leos together, I know it's normal for males to not get along but I could never find females who tolerated each other either..just bad luck I guess...

I've had a few females who didn't tolerate certain others, but if I mix and match I've found that some geckos don't get along with certain others, but will be fine with different individuals.

I never chanced it, watching them get into a fight was usually enough for me to just assume that "this particular gecko just doesn't play well with others". At one point I had about 6 different tubs for each of my leos. LOL

Usually I can tell if they will fight just by watching them approach. If they act aggressively at a distance, I don't allow them to get any closer. Unfortunately, I have no way of knowing before hand if one is going to dominate the other.

This is great! I will certainly have to keep this in mind.
