Plissken got his first pinky rat today... He om nom nomed it down, and is now chilling out on his vine. I will take a risk and say he is one happy snake. Also, I'm pretty sure while he was eating he was thinking "Dude? Really? EVERYTIME I eat... You sit there and snap pictures? You are a sick individual!"

It was his first time with a larger prey item, so I was a bit worried it would be too big... My concerns are now laid to rest as he gulped that down and seemed content. Plus, that was one of the smaller pinkies in the batch we got, sooo, we'll have to see what's what next feeding.

I would happily feed my corns prey a little bigger than that one so you should have no worries :)

Good to hear! Because the ones we have are roughly 2-2.5 times wider than he his (this is all roughly, of course, I'm terrible with size comparisons :D). Anyways, we gave my roommates king snake a bigger pinky than mine, and he struggled for a few minutes, then slowly but surely got it to go down.

With all three of my corns i feed prey that is about 2.5x their girth, never had a problem :)

That puts my mind at ease then for his next feeding. I'm waiting to play it by ear since this is a much larger prey for him, but I have been debating on a 5 day feeding schedule as opposed to 7 days... any thoughts?

With feeding larger prey i fed mine every seven days til they were a year old and then every fourteen days afterwards.

See, my problem is, he's almost a year old as it is, but I just got him, so he's been most of his life (until today) on pinky mice... Does your rule still apply?

Lol, its no "rule" just an opinion :) but yes personally i would put him on fourteen days feeds :)

Haha, true that it's not a rule, mayhaps I need to learn a better vocabulary :P
