Hello all, after reading 18 pages of threads I am very interested in getting a carpet python. My wife and I are happy owners of a beautiful BRB and he is great, but snakes are an addiction. I have been looking for the right species of aboreal/semiaboreal snake that would fit in with our family. Something active, colorful, and more importantly handlable.
The carpet python seems to be the one to meet those standards. Love all the pics you all post and the advice on this forum.
My question is. Are there any carpet owners here that live in Alaska? I have never seen a carpet python in person. I would love to meet one or at least see one before finding a breeder and having it shipped up. I will probably order a JCP or IJJ when the weather warms back up. We have a very short window for the right temperatures to ship here safely. Until then I will get some books, read a lot and get things ready for a new carpet baby.
Thank you all for all your threads and pics.

No Exeperience in IJJs buut I do have JCPs.... great choice as a first carpet, they don't get as big as coastals and are more active.

Welcome to the forum as well

You will not be dissapointed. I you can't find the above book The Complete Carpet Python is also very good. Helped me out a lot. Just remember young carpets are fiesty and nippy but it all seems to go away at about the 3' mark. Each snake is different but don't be discouraged if your new little guy wants to eat your face. It will pass with time and handling and when they are small the nip doesn't even hurt let alone do any damage so its easy to work around. I find this to ve the only neggative aspect of carpets. They are 100% awesome after they trust you.
Good luck. Post pics. We love pics !!

Carpets are a wonder to own, great taste.

Just beware that they're very nippy when they're small.

Carpet pythons are my favorite snake hands down. You can't go wrong with any carpet.
