Pajamas being...speshul...

AHAHAH! So, I fed Pajamas yesterday, as is norm. usually, after about an hour, he's out of feeding mode, and i can stick my hands in his cage for temps and stuff. Well, the past 2 times I've misted his cage, he's struck at the water/held his mouth open like a dog would! I can't help but laugh SO HARD every time he does this xD

My SD Retic does this with every misting, he will strike anything in the viv that moves (or if in feed mode anything in the viv with any sort of heat signature, or that moves, or that doesnt move... you get the picture ;))

Aaaaand he's still doing it. It isn't a feeding response, as I am able to touch him, pet him, take him out, no problems, which means it's not cage defensive either. It's ONLY when I mist. Today, it almost seemed like he was...playing? (can snakes play?). He snapped at it, went crazy, bit his hide (gently), sort of wrapped around it, and then kept head butting his hide...I took him out for some 'exercise', and he was fine the entire time. This is the craziest thing...I've never seen a snake do this, and like I said, it almost seems like he's playing.

I dont think they see the water "properly" just something moving quickly in front of them which they strike at - as an experiment wave your hand quickly in front of his nose and see if he bites ;) ;) ;)

My retic does that too, except it's not so funny when he actually lunges straight at my face. Does it every time I mist. I guess he hates it.

I mist every day, and he had never done it before until like 3 days ago. xD Sometimes he'll even hold his mouth open while I'm misting...at least I know he isn't dehydrated!!
