Just picked him up yesterday after visiting several pet stores in the area. Tough choice between the Coastal and Jungle but one I saw his colors, it was a done deal. Oh, and for some reason as soon as my girlfriend and I walked out of the store, she came up with the name Rodney. Not sure why or how but that's become his name.

Ok, just got first bite today, I've been anticipating this and as soon as it came across my mind, wack!!!!!!! Lol..... Something told me to put gloves on today too.....
Ok, here's a question for you guys, since my JCP is only 3 mos old, how long should I hold him each day, especially after he bites. I don't want to stress him out too much.... Geeez he's quick!!!!!!!

don't handle him until you have him eating regular
i preffer them to have 4 or 5 feeds before handling

Thanks Shaun....... I just found another post regarding handling them. He's eating with no problem at the moment. I actually think it may have been me because I attempted to take him out a few times before I just went for it. I think I may have stressed him out by doing so. Yesterday I just grabbed him up and no bite..... Any advice is welcome ....

as you said mate
the direct approach is best when taking them out the tank, just walk right up and take them out
most carpets are very good feeders,so if he takes his next feed, then maybe you can begin handling,to try calm him down
sometimes they need to grow and get a bit of size, before they calm down
cheers shaun

watch this vid about handling jungle carpets , worked for me ! I did this , used gloves for about 15 minutes a session 3 times a week for 3 weeks and now i can handle him without gloves but he will still nip and bite at fast moving hands and i must use a hook to take him out and put him in . Mine is about 8 months. still needs alot of work but he is mellowing out quickly . I would not handle him at all for the 1st month though.

Great video ....... I already see where I went wrong.... He was moving fast and so was I and I definitely didn't always come from below... As a matter of fact now that I think about it I believe my hand was coming over top of him when he struck. Better luck tomorrow....

yep keep fingers together and thumb close to hand and flat ... fingers and thumbs will get bit otherwise. i move very slowly , and i only put him away when he is mellow and not biting otherwise he may learn biting means freedom or that it will mean dont mess with me.
