I woke up this morning to find a fresh shed carpet so I took her outside for a quick photo shoot.

I've only had this girl for about 5 months now. As far as I know I'm her third owner. The guy I got her from had her for about 2 years (neither of us are sure of her age) and was feeding her one live medium rat every 14-21 days. It was his first snake and I don't think he was aware that carpets could take 4x the size of their girth. Since I've had her I've been feeding her one f/t jumbo rat every 14 days. Her girth is almost the size of a coke can and she's over 5 1/2' long. It takes around 4 days for the food lump to go away. She seems to be doing well with this but I'm still not completely confident in her prey size as I don't notice her gaining any girth but she has gotten a little longer since I've had her (a couple of inches). If I could be doing something better, please let me know!

This is my first carpet experience and I must say, she's been quite an experience. I've never had a snake that is as active as she is. She's constantly exploring and will get into everything if I don't keep a constant eye on her. It's like having a toddler in the house again lol. She's great though. Although curious, she's quite docile and friendly and has a helluva feed response, oftentimes grabbing her prey so hard and quick that she leaves the tail in my tongs

Thanks for looking!

Feed smaller meals at shorter intervals and you will probably see a size difference.

Go with large rats, every 8 - 10 days.

Thats a good looking carpet, its nice to see them as adults. People seem to stop posting pics once carpets hit a certain size.

Thank you. She's my first experience with a more lean amimal. I wanted to make sure I'm doing rigbt by her. She's so thin compared to my other ones lol.

I know she's not as bright as others but her bright personality more than makes up for it :D

I couldn't ask for a better carpet experience. I will be adding another to my collection in the future. :)
