Hello!!

I do not heat my garter snake enclosures at all.

and I have produced quite a few litters without heating the tanks.

Garter snakes are north american, so your normal household temps are just fine.

I would prefer a heat mat with a thermostat temps 75 to 80 on the hot side 70 to 73 on the cool side I feed mine tilapia boneless & skinless fish filet but the can eat fish worms an pinky mice. If you have any more questions go ahead an ask

I've seen a few different posts from you... do you want a garter? or a corn snake? or a milk snake? It's a little confusing.

I have lost snakes with tilapia.. all frozen tilapia is soaked in the same detergent they use in diswashers and laundry soap.

Read this... I had to lose a few snakes to learn this, now go look at the package your tilapia came in, and read the ingredients...

Phosphates in food! (http://www.savannahmonitor.co/stpp/)

I know this is on my monitor site, because frozen shrimp has the same crap sprayed on it.

They use it in the food industry to "enhance moisture and texture"

then read the material safety data sheet I provided, this stuff is horrible.

I feed my garter snakes pinkie mice, organic trout, live Dace minnows and night crawlers.

I just looked at the tilapia an the only ingredients are tilapia fillets, smoked for color retention.
