I just bought a ball python from the local pet store and was watching him dig underneath his rock water bowl and I noticed the tell tale sight of several small black bugs crawling over his head and on his belly scales. since I just got him should I let him acculmate to his new home and then treat the mites or mites then acculmation?

I would do the treatment straight away...with prevent a mite I believe it remains active for 30 days so it doesn't have to be too invasive.
Just my 2cents....

Treat him immediately. Parasites are only gonna add stress and hinder his aclimation.

Should I remove the bedding and everything while treating or just treat?

as has been said.....
PROVENT A MITE
always worked first time everytime for me
follow instructions on the can,and...
DO NOT APPLY TO THE SNAKE OR WATER BOWL
are the bugs little black full stop...... sized dots, when you squish one between your finger tips, they should be full of blood,as they feed on the snakes blood

If you can't get it where you live search Nix. Works too but treat now!!
I'm a big fan of Nix. Easy and quick to get (ask the pharmacist at any drugstore for it, it's human lice treatment thats kept behind the counter).
