Hello!
my gf and me were on a jungle trip in guyana and stumbled across this snake.
Do you know the name of it and also if it's poisonous?

No idea what in particular, but definitely looks like some type of adder. As Aaron said, not something I would touch.

Definitely one of the Bothops species. My best guess would be the Common Lancehead (Bothrops atrox).

Just for future reference snakes are venomous rather than poisonous. Venom kills you by being injected by fangs, poison kills you by being ingested like food :)

Hey Guys!
Thanks for all the answers, it looks definetly like the Bothrops atrox described in Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bothrops_atrox).
I guess we were lucky seeing it before stepping on it! It was close!!
