As some of you know, my roommate has a clutch of Burm eggs and now is the time for them to hatch. Anyway, one of them, a male is reserved for me. He would be a Normal het Albino and I would get him for $60 and from I've seen, all of them are quite bitey which means he will be a good eater.

My question is in naming him. I'm thinking I would like a name that would be a match for Medusa, my female Burm.

Gorgon...perseus....if only he had one eye you could name him cyclops, another of the titans. Kraken, thats a male titan.

Hmm. Chimaera, pegasus, nemean (as in the nemean lion), scylla(female name, but scylla is the monster of the sea whom sailors fear), charybdis(?), poseidon?

Poseidon was the original reason medusa became a gorgon- myth goes that poseidon favored a beautiful mortal woman and chased after her when she refused his advances. Fearing the god, the woman ran to athena's temple and hearth hoping the goddess would save her. Poseidon raped her in athenas temple and athena was offended. To make sure no man ever saw medusa as favorable again, she turned her into the serpentine woman she is known as today. As an added measure, any man medusa looked into the eyes of would be turned to stone- women were spared from this fate hy not being allowed to set foot within medusa's ruins.

So medusa and poseidon? Lol

I can look up a bunch more if you want. I love greek and egyptian mythology. :D my snakes are from Shakespearean plays. Romeo was first - i didnt name her. Her first owner thought she would be a boy and figured he would be a stud / player, thus romeo. I named valentine after the heart on her head- otherwise she wouldve been a mercutio, also from romeo and juliet. My friends corn is named shakespeare because she's an okeetee with a very distinct pale quill on the top of her head, also her name is a dedication to his last play in highschool, which was midsummer nights dream. :)

Didn't Medusa get the way she was by fooling around with Zeus?

Yeah well, I have all 3 Gorgon sisters with the recent addition of Stheno. There's also Khorne, lord of blood. Yeah I'm open to new names but for now, I'm close to maxing out the number of snakes I have. This male Burm will be the last for a while, with the exception future breeding projects of course. ;)

I am so looking forward to this. I am currently selling snakes shortly after hatching and now, I'm "on the other side of the counter". I get to a acquire a Burm shortly out of his egg. I love that Normal "giraffe" pattern as well.

I've never had a BP. Our first 5 snakes were Dums. I do understand the variety of choices you get with BPs though.

I just hold a fondness for BP's since they're docile and that's what I have and know how to care fore. :) Beautiful too - even the normals. I love the patterns on BP's mainly.

The first pic is of the eggs that are left to hatch and the second pic is of the babies that have already hatched. My roommate and a mutual friend were in the process of cleaning tubs and they were just getting ready to do this one when I said I wanted a pic. One of these babies has my name all over it.

Speaking of names for this baby, the more I think about this, the more I like the name Poseidon.

There's one in there that looks like a "Poseidon" and also a "Frank" and "Bob" has a really awesome ring to it. "Bob the burm" or "Bob, my burm" < Say it man, sounds awesome :D
