i went herping today at the north Saskatchewan river looking for anything but no luck i flipped over 100+ logs and rocks still no luck and i went in the forest still no luck to a water fall and stream still n luck why am i not finding anything its august wont they be looking for mates and food for hibernation help me please

You're kidding me! I'm from RMH! Moved away awhile ago, but miss home everyday. For the rest of you to understand how rare this is, Rocky Mountain House has about 6500 people in it.

As for your question about finding reptiles, it's tough. There are rattlesnakes but they're extremely rare by us. I think there a couple species of garter snakes, but I only ever saw two my entire life, and those were by accident. (almost stepped on one in the muskeg actually) There are lots of toads and frogs though! You're right about trying around the North Saskatchewan, but try the little feeder creeks and places where the current isn't as strong. Pretty much just time and patience though.

Do you ever go herping ? and also there aren't many feeder creeks near Rocky
