I have some on order but will take a few days to get here. I did buy some T-rex 2:0 and the following pics are of the container. is this ok to be the main calcium or should I wait for the Rep cal

That first one is a multivitamin, not a calcium. I have never tried the T-rex one. This is what I use:

why would you not want vit. d3????? the vitamin d3 helps absorb the calcium. If you have a calcium supplement without d3 most of the calcium wont be absorbed. What you need is a calcium supplement with vit. d3 and calcium only! and NO phosphorous.

P.S. this is the one i use: <img src="http://www.herpsupplies.com/docs/images/repcal/pinkcal.jpg">

Try to pick up either the calcium mentioned above, or "Flukers Repti-Calcium", (has a green label). Those two tend to be the most recommended calciums among breeders and hobbyists. And I'm curious as to why you wanted a calcium without Vitamin D3, as well, and what animal(s) are you going to be supplementing?? With some species Vitamin D3 consumption isn't as significant as others, this is why I'm curious.
Read labels carefully too, if you were looking for a "calcium w/o Vit D3", you totally got taken on that Rep-cal "herptiVITE". You can still use it tho, it's benificial as well.

SnowSnake: Since Leos are nocturnal they don't need as much D3 as other reptiles do. Also there have been cases of D3 overdose which can kill Leos. Although it's rare, you really only need to supplement with D3 once a week. So why take chances. Use a calcium w/o D3 the rest of the week.
I am using repcal with d3, and am supplementing once a week with herptivite. I also heard that bone aid is good.

Alicewave: I feed my leos twice a week, if once a week i put the calcium with d3 and multivitamins on the 10 crikets they eat that day and the other time that week which they eat i dont put anything on the crikets, is this fine?

Moose1960,
If you supplement every other day or every third day with a cal/d3 supplement you shouldn't have to worry about an overdose. Many time the d3 poisoning is from excessive supplementation (which isn't typical with cal/d3 powdered supplements when used as directed) or from d3 supplements (not calcium supplements with added d3, d3 supplements on their own). I have never used any calcium supplement without d3 and none of my leos -breeders or babies - have never had any problems. My 2cp ;)

Okay Guys and Gals....:)
Right now I am feeding about 4-6 cricks a day. why? cause that is what she eats and 2-3 small (3/4- 1 inch meal worms) I was dusting them with rep cal with d3 each time. Was told not to do the dusting every day maybe just every 3 days but too leave out a little bowl of Rep cal W/O d3 all the time.
My leo is aprox 3-4 months old the store told me. I havent got a clue yet how to tell its age.
So basically i am feeling that I should take the Trex back for refund and wait till i get in the Rep cal wo d3. Either leave a capfull of w/o d3 in cage all time but use with d3 every 2 or 3 days.
I want whats best, so i can have more....lol

what you guys are doing is all fine. I just wouldn't use a D3 dust on all the feeders every day (if you are feeding every day) My Leos only eat twice a week this time of year so I only dust once a week and alternate the powders each week. Then I smear plain calcium on a rock for them to lick off as needed and that seems to be fine for my guys. I usually just mix the herptivite in with the gutload but once a month i add some in with the calcium.
Also, many leos eat 20-30 insects per feeding. If you have a leo that eats that much I wouldn't dust all of them. I think 5-10 dusted is sufficient.
There is no one right way to do it. Unfortunately there is little to no info on dosing for these guys so I try to be on the safe side.

Alice
You blew me away with the 20-30 insects per feeding.
It could be my experience with fish and my personal experience...lol
So are you saying that feed as much as they will eat...they wont get over weight like Me :)

Using the stuff with d3 is fine if you dont over do it. One of the probs with over doing it is that their bones will go soft, making it very difficult to move. I have never seen this in leos, but i have seen many chameleons that suffer from this. For that reason i only use it 2/week and 3-4/week for breeding girls, and i leave a dish of no d3 for them to lick. Leos are not picky, and it really isnt that big a deal wether you do it 1 a week or 3 a week, as long as it gets all the nutrients the body needs it will be fine. If you dont want to use multi vits i suggest feeding you crix/meals a varied diet. i feed my crickets the same food that i eat (veggies, fruit, and grains), so i know that they are very healthy. AS for how much to feed, you have to set your own schedule. I personally feed them every night just cause i like to watch them chase around bugs. I like to give my group of 4 approx 30 crix a night, and whatever amount of meal worms i care to take out of the bin.

You feed 30 crix a night per leo???????????????
I feed both my leos 10 crix twice a week and some mealies once in a while.

I feed as much as they will eat unless they start getting so fat that they never move around. (Mine really never get this way) This time of year they are eating 10 mealies per meal, Murtle is being stubborn but she's up to 3 worms per week now. But the boys, especially in the summer time average about 20 worms. I just keep dropping em in until they stop eating or after 15 minutes, whichever comes first. That's how they get such a nice fat store on their tails. Not all Leos are pigs like mine. LOL

Not per leo :) I give 30-40 for the 4 of them. sorry for the confusion.
