View Full Version : appreciate sized enclosure
I wanna build an enclosure an I was wondering if a 4'x2' would be an appropriate sized enclosure or is it to small. If it is to small what's the right size for adult bull snake. What type of wood is safe for a snake also how should I set up heating an lighting

Rout out the section so it's only about an 1/8 inch thick then adhere it on.
Ok thanks. Last question can I use any kind of wood besides pine an cedar or is there other ones I should stay away from

If you seal the wood you can use almost anything. Melamine works great. Use marine grade silicone to seal the edges or it will leak snake pee=yuk. 4x2x1 is plenty for an adult bull. Good luck and post pics.
will 3'.3" work for langth or is that just to small??

Well heres the thing.
My Skittles (albino Applegate Gopher) I expect will hit about 6' tops full grown and is about 1/2 that now at 16 month old. She is in a 2x2x18" tank now and is my last snake getting an enclosure upgrade as part of my reptile room project. So I am giving her a lifer viv so she never needs to change again. If ,god forbid I have to rehome her she can take her home with her and still be in it the day she dies. So considering 6' Skittles I figure I need a 4x2x2. Mine clibs a bit. Not like a carpet does but a big log will make a great perch so I want the 2' height. Now your bull is 95% the same as far as breeds go so I figure you need the same BUT!! if your male only hits 5' a 3.3x2x? (?= your choice dependant on your snakes athletic ability ;) ) would be just fine. If you are asking because you have that size material already just go ahead and build. If it sucks or is to small it will do for a while and you can use what you have learned to build another is a couple years.
Just my $.02
Yea the only reason why I was asking is cus I had extra wood laying an its 3.3x2x1. I do plan on building one that is the appreciate size for him I just really wanna get him out of the 30"x12"x12" that he is in now.
