I did a quick search but it's kinda a pita on my phone, im just curious as to what type of bedding would be best, and what type of warming method is best, heating pad or lamp. Thanks for the replies :)

I had aspen but switched to eco earth and they liked it alot more. Made them very active. For heat i use both light and UTH.

simple ...aspen with 2 hides , water bowl , climbing branch , heat with a UTH under 1 hide. no need for the lamp .

make sure you use a thermostat with the UTH

I agree with this. I just found eco earth and love it! I myself am not a huge fan of UTH but that's just me.

stay away from lamp... corn doesint need them... its a stress factor

And a lamp will dry the air out.
Colubrids dehydrate with lamps.
If you use a lamp your snake will hide all the time...
In tight places, under or in the water bowl, protecting it's skin from the dry air.

and, as Aleks stated, all this causes stress.

I have no jssues with ceramic heat emitters drying the air in my corns vivs, the vivs are well sealed and our ambient humidity stays around 50-60%. i never spray their vivs and their humidity never drops below 50%

Guys... I have used heat lamps for 25 years and never had an issue. I currently use flexwatt, but I strongly disagree with the school of thought that says heat lamps are bad.

Corns don't need high humidity so a heat lamp will be fine as long as the snake is given a cool side and when in shed a humid hide.

I don't heat my corns viv at all. He sits on top of my royals custom viv and gets a little bit of heat from the radiant heat panel in that. The floor above the heat panel is 80ish. It has been this way for over a year and never had an issue. Corns do well in room temp with very little added heat.

As for bedding I use aspen or news paper depending on what I have closest when I do a full clean out. He seems to like the aspen more for burrowing.

Then my thousands of colubrids have been kept wrong for over two decades?
There is a difference between just keeping snakes alive and allowing them to thrive......

Heat emitters, flex watt, heat cable, heat pads are optimal.
Heat lamps are not......but your snake will live.

Gungirl.....
A constant temp in the 80s is not allowing many choices.
A thermal and humidity gradient does.

I guess i wasnt clear...my home is kept in the high 60s low 70s but the part of his cage that is over my royals heat panel is at 80...so he DOES have a gradient....

probably been said already, all my corns are on aspen and on heatpads/tape.
