sick python?

I was wondering if anyone knows the cause of respritory problems with snakes?
Just this eve i was cleaning the enclosure for stryder 1.0 my ball,
and I noticed mild Whieezing. I think I'll take him to the vet.
Any suggestions would be great. Thanks, Colin

Hey vincenzo, no i did't take him to the vet. I've been keeping a close eye on him, and today he seems much better. He never had some of the basic symptoms ie: open mouth and such. So maybe i jumped the gun in my assumption that he had an RI. Even though he seems better i think i will take him in anyways.

turn the heat up to about 96f over night . if it is RI the heat should help break up any mucus and /or puss and help him discarde it i had a problem with a couple of my BP's when i got them with RI and thats what the vet told me to do . so try that b4 you take him to the vet and then if it dosen't help over a couple of nights then yes absolutly take him to the vet !

I think that RI's can come from the air being too cold and/or humid. I'm not too sure though.

Overly damp/humid conditions, and cold temps are what normally cause wheezing, which may lead to RI.

Turn up the temps a bit, and make sure that the substate is not wet.

It is too cold or damp!!! I once had a collection of 36 ball pythons. I took a short overnight trip planning to com eback the next morning. When I was gone the power goes out for few hours and I come back the next day with almost all of my snakes wheezing, choking, and throwing up. When nighttime had rolled around I had lost 24 of them! Every now and then I have similar expiriences. My best advise is raise the heat and get help. I Have yet to have a ball with those symptoms last more than two nights.

respitory infections are usually due to a low temperature, like if they get a gust of cold winter air, correct me if im wrong everyone.

I would not say USUALLY. There are a variety of causes of RI. Some snakes are prone to RIs

Keep a close eye on your snake.... my ball python will get the "wheeze" for a couple of days right before he sheds then it goes away. Watch it closely and if it does not get better then take it to the vet. Although a vet check up in general is not a bad thing to do.

Do not take your temps above 92° or you will "fry" your snake. A 96° temp is way too hot for your ball python. You also want to decrease the humidity in the enclosure while the temps are increased.
