Hey everyone, I just need some advice/help for my male pewter bp...

I woke up this morning and checked on how everyone was doing, changing their water etc...I check on my male pewter and take him out to see if he has shed since he was in the blue for 4 days or so. He managed to get most of it off except for some of his head and the first 1/4 of his neck.

Now I took him out to clean up his cage and noticed that he was doing some wheezing whenever he took a breath and also like he was burping? Almost like bubbling/gurgling sounds either coming from his mouth or just from his digestive system. He seemed quite swollen at his rear end and it felt quite soft and cushy almost half way up his body from his vent. Now I went to soak him and he pooped a little bit (which was only a chunk and had some green in it) and "urinated" (no urates) but not completely. The bubbling/gurgling sound generally went away but he still seems to be holding back his waste and opening his mouth like he is trying to readjust his jaw. The wheezing is still there, but no bubbles coming out of the vents at all.

Husbandry is fine, all the temps are normal and the humidity is sitting around 75-80%. It's been brutally hot here and it is 84 degrees just in the apartment, so changing the water is very frequent as it is evaporating quickly. Everyone else is fine and in great shape, never had a problem with shedding before either....

Anybody know what it is? Or am I just paranoid? I have never had a problem with any of my ball pythons so I guess I'm freaking out...Hopefully it's nothing!

I will post pics if they are requested :)

Maybe some stress related digestive issues, when is the last time he ate? Keep us posted.

He has been eating like a champ for over a month (fed every 5-7 days) last time he didn't eat was July 3rd so I don't see how that would be the problem. And he has been defecating regularly as well. *shrug*

Interesting, I have no new ideas. Lets see what mykee or aron say.

Okay so after soaking him he has managed to take off the rest of the stuck shed. He wheezed a little bit again...He is very active now and seems to be relieved and the gurgling is gone. False alarm? I will update and keep a close eye and see if he still continues to wheeze. Thank-you for the comments snake_man12 :)

Stuck shed in the nose or heat pits?

Yes there was some stuck shed in the heat pits, and nostrils but he managed to get all of it off. That was probably it, as he seems to be no longer wheezing. Yay!
