I pulled up this article this morning and it scared a colleague. I'm still amazed at how realistic it looks.

i posted that the other day on my facebook. It's really amazing... horrifying to eat when you see the cake part of it, but it's pretty cool.

The cake was made for a 6yr old. It took 3 days to make!

That is awesome! My 7 yo has recently contracted herp fever. I gave her two hatchling leos and it's been all downhill from there, lol. I will probably be ordering one of those cakes for her next birthday!

It's really creepy and amazing. I would be creeped out to eat it!
I work for a pastry ingredient company now, and I have seen a lot of really cool cakes lately, but this one...*giggle* takes the cake...

Love the cake, i asked her how she did the scales because i want to make a ball python one day but she cant say anything because she is writing a book about her cakes :(

I know a cake designer and he has done some snakes... He uses different netting for scales. Push the fondant into it and pull one direction slightly to give lift to the scales. I will ask him if I can post some of his pictures. I think they are better than the one posted above, but he is my friend so I guess I am a little bias.

I'm getting sick of seeing people say they thought it was a real snake. I might not be very versed on Burm but I can easily tell its not real, pattern is nice on it, don't like much else.

I liked the cake! But it is everywhere now. OH well, people who keep posting it just didn't realize. I appreciate that people want to share it.

I did notice the head was a little misshapen, but over all it's better than i could do *lol* still nice.

i didn't notice fingerprints. i think it's meant to be the shape.

I see the fingerprint - on the zoom in on the cheek there's a blatant fingerprint, cant' see that pattern anywhere else on the frosting. lol

Saw this online the other day!! I loved it! If i had a cake like that and didnt tell anyone about it and let them see it for themselves...they prob would have ran out of the room! :P Amazing work to who ever did it...but i couldn't imagine what the cost would be for such a detailed cake!

My old man and my daughter ordered me a birthday cake once. They asked for a snake. When they went to pick it up there were two big plastic giant ants. Apparently my daughter who was 5 at the time wanted to know where the snake she requested was and why there were ants on the cake. Well I guess the woman at the bakery made the mistake of telling her, "Don't you worry, Mommy's gonna like those since Mommy likes creepy, crawly things, and I didn't have a snake to put on the cake."
That comment enraged my 5 year old who proceeded to tell the woman at the bakery that she must have brain damage because Mommy's snakes are beautiful creatures that God made for her to love and that not having a snake to put on the cake was a ridiculous reason for putting yucky ants on it.

^^^Best birthday present ever! I wish I could've been there to see it. My old man couldn't even keep a straight face as he was telling me. I guess he followed her up with "Yes, how inconsiderate of you to put ants in the same category as snakes."

If that cake was really nice I would understand the duplicate threads but I actually think it's a sad looking cake. I have seen many nicer ones. I don't get why this one is getting so much attention.

This one looks like it would be a burmball hybrid. The head looks more like a burm, but the body and pattern look more like a royal lol

Cute cake though. I can barely write "happy birthday" on a cake. Kudos to anyone who can make a cake that even remotely resembles a snake. It's much better than what I can do! lol

Well, we do kids reptile parties (http://www.reptileparties.com.au) on weekends and often more than 20 a weekend and so have squillions of cake photos from parties.
The worst part is after the kids eat them ... they usually bounce off the walls!
