Ok I know they eat the different worms and pinkie mice and crickets. Now my problem is I very well might get snowed in where I live. And by snowed in I mean 4-6 feet of snow, not light fluffy easy to move but hard heavy snow. I have gone out and bought as meny crickets as the pet store had only 60. They didn't have any mealworms or anything else. I'm wondering what else I can feed them, like crested can eat babyfood, what about Leos. I would like to know if they eat anything else, that I have in my house type thing. Thanks for the help.

just get a bunch of mealworms, they do great on mealworms and you can buy them by the hundreds and that should last you a while

if not...they will also eat
pinkie mice
wax worms (but dont go overboard, they are real fatty)
some will eat silkworms
kingworms

im sure some other bugs too!

I know about the worms, but the local petstore doesn't get them in, only mealworms and they don't have any right now. I don't know what to feed them once my crickets run out. I have 4 leos, 1 pictus, as well as 9 newts that all eat them, even feeding them once like every 3 days if I'm snowed in for 2 weeks (just might happen it's not going to stop for at least a week of snowing) then what can I do?? My newts will eat shrimp, but the leos and pictus??

You should probably breed your own. I have no luck with crix, but mealworms are EASY to breed.

That's ok!! I am trying to breed crixs and mealworms, but that does me no good if I get snowed in and they starve to death.

I see your point. I would keep some frozen pinkies on hand for you leos. At least they wont starve. You can also keep you mealies in the fridge untill you need them.

If your leos have a good fat store on their tails they will absolutely definitely not starve to death in a couple weeks. especially this time of year when they slow down they metabolism in general. You can feed leos Chicken baby food without onions if you're desperate but I wouldn't bother. What I would do is get as many insects as you can and then ration them over two weeks. If it means each animal only gets 2 or 3 per feeding until you can get out to get more that should be fine.

What i would be more worried about if you get snowed in is keeping your little guys warm if you have a power outage for several days. :bugout:

I dont know if this is helpful, but there is freeze dried leopard gecko food you can buy. It might be useful to keep a jar of this as a backup...

also I don't know if you have a fishing store that sells live takle around where you are but they usually sell mealworm and they are pretty cheap. You may want to drop the temps of you leos a little so they are not very active and they will last the two weeks without any food at all.

I'm not worried about my geckos getting cold. We have a fireplace in which I can heat water and put it in bottles for them to cuddle. Or they can just hang out on me. Thanks for the help. Never thought of a fishing store!!

I use yogurt for treats, which could also work as an emergency food. Make sure its got live bacterial culture (stated in the ingredients list), and there won't be any problem with lactose intolerance because the bacteria have converted it. You might just find your leopards and pictus like it so much, you'll use it for a treat (specially for females during breeding season). Peach or strawberry stirred (or stirred up fruit bottom, doesn't matter) go over well.

Me either. Glad you told me I just might have to go buy some. It looks like it's stopped snowing for now. We got about 3 feet dumpped on us in 2 days. I'm hoping it melts some before it snows agian. Thanksa for all the help guys!!
