That being that this animal is not in Wayne or Gregg's possession. It can't be just me that sees the problem?

It is colourful.

In defense of Outback Reptiles, if they just got it in it may not have fed recently when the pictures were taken.

I have seen my own kids look like little footballs one day, and look starved the next.

I'm not going to comment on the price tag, I have seen varying degrees of pigmentation on many specimens, this one may be pretty, just not $500 pretty (To me anyway, someone else may feel different)

I actually saw this animal in person. A bit thin, yes. In bad shape, not at all. It is a fresh wild caught import so it is to be expected. With a proper set up, the animal will do just fine. It is also MUCH nicer than "a normal $15 savannah".

As I said, I saw it in person and as stated in the ad, the pics are not doing its colors any justice. The thing is smokin. If I had the money at the show, I may have gotten it. At that price, I do not think it will sell that fast so it may be for sale for a while. If it is still available after the Daytona show, I may give them a reasonable cash offer as I personally think $500 is a bit much. I think it would go well with the T+/hypo sav.

Apparently the pictures don't do it justice, then. I saw three in my local pet store that look just like this.

I doubt it. I have seen over a thousand imported savs over the years and never seen one like it. Go to your local pet store and buy all three. If they look just like this one, I will give you double what you paid for them and I will pay for the gas it took you to drive to the pet store and back.

Even in the photo you can tell there is something different looking about it than an average sav.

Reptiles, and monitors in particular, never come out well in photos. There's just something missing in pictures.

Good plan, I agree the $500 is a bit much. Sure hope you can get it, it would be fantastic seeing it grow up and reproduce.

Plus, I'll be needing a couple of those in the future, along with some T+.... LOL

Ha! Thats freakin hilarious that he is asking $500 for it. It is a pretty monitor, for sure. I really like the orange stripe on the neck especially. Its a shame that it will likely lose all that colour in the next year. The price seems like a bit of a hail mary, but I suppose if someone is willing to pay thousands of dollars for some random boa or ball python silliness then why not this.

We'll see about losing it's colors.. It'll almost definitely dull down a little, but I suspect it won't dull much. Heck, it could get brighter with age.
If I was able to take a Sav right now, that animal would not be for sale anymore. I'd haggle a bit, but I'd still be willing to pay $500 if it came to that, if for no other reason than to make sure it doesn't get bought by someone who has no clue how to care for it, and kills the gene. One large snake breeder with some special niles comes to mind here..

That one is pretty for sure, but I definitely wouldn't be spending that amount of money on a sav on aspen in a fish tank.

Especially when they say "raised for a year" (like that)....

I did see that one, and it is pretty but not $1,000 pretty. For maybe $100 or so I'd take it though.

That is no hypo sav. However, its dorsal spotting is awesome. Much larger than any savs I have seen. Most notable is the tail pattern. That is so very different from any sav I have seen. It is striped instead of banded. Very cool, but not $1000 cool. For me to spend that kind of cash on a sav, its genetics would have to be proven. The problem is, in the varanid end of this hobby, most varanid keepers do not have a clue when it comes to genetics or how they are passed on.

What I find funny is how since I posted pics of our hypo/T+ sav, ads like this have been coming out of the wood work. Everyone thinks they have something special.

It's interesting, whatever it is. Sure hope that one goes to someone who knows what they're doing, unlike its current owners. You could probably explain the truth of the matter to the sellers and whittle the price down some, if you really wanted to.
We need more monitor morphs being reproduced in captivity.. Not necessarily because I like all of them, but because it would encourage captive breeding, which in turn would mean people would dig a little deeper and find out how to properly care for these animals.
Look what happened before the first morph, the albino Burmese.. All the animals in the trade were wild caught. Then morphs came onto the scene and shortly after, almost all of them are captive bred.
