Or whatever Animal Planet calls the Burm x African Rock python (Cateaters)thing in their stupid TV special. Straight from the Evil Morph God's (Kevin @ NERD) mouth.
"ICON films filmed me @ NERD doing a show about the monster snake Burmese Python African Rock hybrid that "could" occur in Southern FLA. THey decided let's ask a breeder how to make a MONSTER SNAKE.....so they asked me and I told them that I have done it and the reality is that it DOES NOT make a MONSTER SNAKE! In fact the cross is neurotic, small and rather miserable. We shall see if this part of the reality ever gets aired. At some point it should appear on DISCOVERY. 113 Burms since 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If we can lose our Burm/African ...Yellow Anaconda rights so easily we are seriously in trouble. HYpe and misinformation has done a great job kicking our asses here!"

BUT BUT BUT I KNOW! It was on Animal Planet! If they say so it MUST be true! (heard that one before...)

Here's another goof on APs part. Obviously it never aired because it didn't fit into their little box: http://www.capefearserpentarium.com/DannySteele.pdf

Just the same as all the info on the internet has to be correct otherwise it wouldn't be permitted on the internet, right?

Danny's a good guy, I've spoken with him on several occasion.
I'm a fan of Dean Rippa's (of the Cape Fear Serpentarium) account of them filming him for the show Fatal Attractions.

I like the actual animals shows on AP, but I don't take the info in the shows as law or true. But I don't really like the sportsy-type shows, Tanked, ghost shows, etc. They don't belong there.

I have to admit, I do like Tanked, and Gator Boys. I don't personally get TV at my home, but I occasionally catch those shows at my parents' house.

Tanked isn't really an animal show. It falls more in the genre of Pimp My Ride and Trading Spaces.

I have many reasons for refusing to view Animal Planet.
Our TV is not permitted to display that swill.

We still watch some shows on there. I am disturbed by some of the shows they produce themselves but it's not all bad. It's very easy to tell the shows produced by TV people using animals vrs animal people using TV. But yeah there is certainly a bunch of crap out there in TV land!!

I like those as well. I do enjoy River Monsters because he always tells it like it is in the end. If its just hype, then that's what he concludes, but for TV ratings sake he always has to include the "random anomaly factor" that there could be a freak of nature out there.

Nobody ever will because they're owned by AP and they won't put out something like that. But just go ask Danny about his experiences with these guys, he's still quite put off by it.

Yeah, I forgot about River Monsters. That's a pretty good one. The host seems pretty level-headed. Its a good example that they CAN do a show featuring awesome, impressive animals, but balanced with some education, not just about the animal itself, but about the culture surrounding the animal. I like how they start off with the "hype" but then peel away the layers to reveal the truth.
I find Tanked entertaining only because I used to do tank maintenance myself with our LPS. I can appreciate the work and effort to design those super-awesome aquariums for all these client, and I can tell there's definitely some passion for the hobby as well.
I have only caught a couple episodes of Gator Boys, but from what I did see, it did seem that the animals were presented fairly well, and the crew does a lot with education and reptile removal. Of course, there's the obvious "staged acting" in the alleged reality show format, but certainly a more refreshing and animal-friendly alternative to Swamp People and/or Swamp Brothers.

River Monsters is one of my brother and I's favorites, we own the first 2 seasons and are waiting on the 3rd to come out on DVD.
The amount of work the guys on Tanked put into their creations is just mind blowing. They did a recent one for the PetCo HQ that was a large saltwater, a freshwater that was half the size, and then an arboreal viv the same size as the freshwater with a pair of GTPs (they didn't say sex of the snakes, so I'm a little uneasy about this decision). Apparently Wade is an all around animal guy and has one or two Ball pythons, but the other guy (whose name escapes me at the moment) is terrified of snakes. I would love to have them do a tank for me some day if I can ever scrounge up the money.
I've only seen a few episodes of Gator Boys, but what I have seen I've liked for the most part.
