That is one awesome specimen! any idea what happened to him?
I would like to know what happened to him??? Hopefully a monster like that was either relocated, or placed in a wildlife preserve or Zoo.
Marisa
How do you move an animal like that? I sure do hope that its relocated, its a shame if an (probably) old creature is killed, just because it was in the wrong place.
They are never in the wrong place doenoe.... It's just us humans that want to take on everywhere ;)
I hope he was relocated although id be ready to bet he is being served to as gatorporcorn or gator sticks ..
I have heard (alhtough not sure) that in florida .. when they have troubled gators .. ppl with permits come and take em away FOR FREE but are aloud to sell em for food - thats how they make there living ..
Life sucks when it comes to what happens to our animals..

...There's many stories on this guy, One states it was found in Fl. and 23' long. Another states itwas 26' long, and another states it was 19' long, in texas, now it's 18.3' long.
Anywys hee's a few points that it's considered fake by many people that have seen this pic.
1) the light is shining on the wrong side of the gator.
2) no built up mud or drag marks where you'd expect from hauling such a large animal.
3) The man behind the gator should cast a shadow on it, but doesn't
4) the man's legs look blurry where they meet the gator in the image
5) there's a blur mark on the gator's back just left of the man's legs.
6) supsicious repetition of the pattern of the mudbank near the gator's tail
7) Shading under the gator is far darker than anything other shading in the pic
8) black tape looks suspiciously wide. like 5 inches plus.
And my Opinion that it's a fake, is the fact that there's only two pictures of the animal, A far one and a close up which could be from cropping the picture.
I at least think it's fake, but if it's not- Simply amazing.

After some close examination of the pic, I'm starting to agree with you KrokGuy3...it does look a little off. Also, that's a pretty clean looking animal for one of that supposed size and age. When they make it to around that size, they're usually pretty banged up looking.
What is the World record for a gator? Anyone?

...lol HQ, that is one heck of a beast.
The world record gator is abvout 19' 2.5-3" and was found in Louisiana in about 1890. 15-16 footers turn up in Floridia every now and then, but sadly it seems that the average sized gator in florida is maybe 10'.
