Central Virginia Reptiles - Bullsnake Care Sheet (http://www.centralvirginiareptiles.com/Bullsnake-Care-Sheet.html)
Temperature:Most snakes (bull snakes included) do best if provided an environment with an ambient temperature between 80° F and 85° F. It is best to try and obtain an ambient air temperature of 82° F - 84° F. A basking spot temperature of 88° F- 90° F placed on one end of the enclosure should provide an environment that will allow the animal to thermo regulate properly. Use a thermostat to control the heating device and monitor the temperature through out the enclosure with a thermometer(s). Nighttime ambient temperatures may be allowed to drop into the mid 70’s (74° or higher). Supplemental heat in the form of a nighttime drop attachment to the thermostat should be provided. A heating element such as a basking bulb, radiant heat emitter, or ceramic heat emitter maybe used to heat the enclosure. As long as the ambient air temperature can be properly maintained either method should be acceptable. A good indication that the proper thermal gradient has been supplied is a snake that moves back and forth between the warm side and cool side. A snake that constantly remains at one side or the other indicates an improper temperature gradient.
Humidity: A relative humidity of 50% to 60% is adequate for bull snakes.
