Do they work? Are they any good?

Has anyone ordered these from China? I mean, half the supplies we buy here in North America are shipped from there...so I'm wondering if these ones might work just as well as the 'pet store' variety heat pads...except way cheaper.

This is the first one. It just seems handy that there's a temperature dial right on it. I haven't really seen anything like that around here.

or these, regular "plug into a thermostat" type

That's what I thought...I have a Fluker's heat pad too, except it cost almost 40 bucks.

Though they look like flukers , i would not use them . They could be substandard parts , fake parts , not UL listed safe and not have the 100 F flukers temp limit. Not worth the risk imho.

well the 100 deg temp thing doesn't matter if you use a thermostat, but I think you could be right about the cheap parts thing. That's why I wanted to know if anyone had tested them, I mean, for all we know they could all be made in the same factory with just a different label slapped on them...

Dont worry, I won't be buying them unless someone who has tested them says they work though.

Yes, the joys of being in Canada. Everything is more expensive here...

I disagree. 100 degrees on the mat and 100 degrees at the probe are a different thing. Unless you have the probe on the heat pad it could still be an issue. If it will heat up to 120 it won't take it long since it is electrical, but it could take the probe more time to register and by then it may be too hot. I would use known good products. That's just my 2 cents

The cost of shipping coming from China is going to make up for them being "Cheaper". Try the Flexwatt ;)

Those must only be sold in the USA. I've never seen one here anyway. Pretty much all we have here are zoomed, flukers and exoterra heat mats.

Anyway, I think you guys are right so I went to town to the pet store and got a reliable new heat pad...found one for $32...such a deal for my area... o_o

Flexwatt in Canada (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/general-enclosure-discussion/81911-where-do-you-get-flexwatt-tape-canada.html)

Not sure if this will help but you may be able to refer to it in the future :)
