Was feeding him a rat with tongs (about 18 inches long)
He struck, missed, and clamped on my finger. First time, i knew it would come!:O_o:

Not a big deal since he's only about 42". but still i've been bitten by many snakes and his is is the WORST for his size, in my experience.

Time to get a longer set of tongs, or start feeding on a plate...
you won't like that bite too much when he's bigger ;)

Pictures sweet. I mean ouch! Be glad it was your finger. I use to have a psycho baby Retic that always went for my face. Tag my nose three times. Dam thing would let anyone pick it up and was mellow as hell. I get with in 10 of it cage and it would go insane.

lol that's funny, kinda shows how smart they can be.
my retics not like that at all... except feeding time, he goes crazy and stays crazy for a day or two after lol. just food related, not any real aggression

There was no love about it he wanted me dead. It just goes to show how smart Retics are. I had him a week and accidentally drop him. After that he never forgot about it. After a few months i ended up finding him a new home.

No offense Alessia, but this is HORRIBLE advice for a retic. Get longer tongs or stay out of the way. Most retics you won't have a chance to set the plate down before they're latched onto the first thing with a heat signature they can sink their teeth into.

Got to agree with this, we no longer use a plate for our retic, he associated the plate with food and would start striking at everything including his heat bulb as soon as the plate came into view.

Longer tongs ARE a good idea though :)
