Urg! Waiting is not fun!

Yesterday was the first day I was guessing that my female Rosy might drop her litter but no luck so far. I'm fighting a major case of checkitis right now! She was very restless yesterday but has gone back to being glued to the UTH. This will be my first deliberate snake breeding and I'm not sure what her signs are yet. (The only other litter I've dealt with was a surprise from a WC female garter.)

I have not done Rosy boas but I have done other egg laying snakes. I would say, let her do as Mother Nature tells her. The more you check in the more you stress her. I know it is hard not to but you have to let her be.

Yeah, I've been using that breeding guide and one other. My two Phantom corns are from VMS, their sheets are pretty good. I'm just a bit concerned that she has not shed yet or even gone blue. Wonder if they all shed before birth or just usually do? Shrug. I think she is close but it could still be another two or three weeks, I guess.

Well, with my corns, there are few exception to the rules. I have two females that go into deep blue as they lay their eggs. Strange but it happens.

Yay! Waiting is rewarded! Esme gave birth to 6 plump little babies about 2 hours ago.

They all pooped today, so while I cleaned their cages I went ahead and weighed them, snapped a few pics and sort of checked them for spurs. Since I was trying to stress them the least amount, not real sure about anything I may or might not have seen. Takes me awhile every time I use my husband's camera to get the hang of it. So the pictures slowly get better. These are all surprisingly big babies, they are all approx. 10 to 12 inches long.
