If I got a cresed gecko would it be fine for 1 week about once a year if needed with cgd left? The setup would also have a mister going off in the orning and at night so it would have water and I could leave cgd but would it go bad? I good make it so that the water re wets it every time it goes off.

It would mold. A week is a bit long for Cresties.

If you have a mister set on timers I would think they would be fine. I think you should put a few crickets with him/her though. That should be enough food while you are gone. It would be best if you could have someone come and check on him mid week though.

When I had my shop I used to board reptiles for people. Too bad not many places are willing to do it :(

I don't know if I would do this, I know crickets will bite and annoy beardies if left in their tank I wouldn't want you to leave your crestie for a week dealing with crickets everytime they wanted to eat or drink.

Crickets won't bother them. Cresties are very rarely on the ground. And if you leave some repashy in the cage the crickets will eat that. I have never had an issue with crickets in the cage with a crestie.

The Repashy would mold though. It is also not a good idea to leave crickets in the enclosure, not to mention crickets are not a staple for Cresties. Bottom line, I would not leave my Cresties alone for a week.

It is so difficult for me to find anyone to take care of my herps. And the vets try to charge me like 600 -1000 bucks to care for a beardie for a week!

Leave dry repashy for the crix to eat. It's a week...not a life time.........

I would teach someone to make Repashy and then can stop by every 2-3 days to change it and check on the crestie. I myself, don't have automatic misters but even if I did I would have someone come by while I was away.

The problem is my alarm system. I do not want even my best friend to be coming in and out of the house.

Fix him up a tote and take him with you :D
Honestly though if all this is impossible you're only gonna be gone a week. Give him a big water dish and make sure he's very well hydrated before you go. Hook his lights up to a timer and throw in some veggies that'll last a few days (carrots, celery, etc.) and maybe a cup of superworms. You can even hook him up with a pinky or two on your way out the door and he'll be just fine until you get back. Maybe a little pissed, but just fine ;)

If you have a herp society near you, you might get to know some of the members. There is usually someone who will be willing to help.
Of course, if you really don't want anyone else in your house at all, then you'd have to be willing to move the crestie to someone else's house.
You remind me why I have snakes . . . so much easier!

It's a crestie? :O_o: For some reason I thought it was a beardie.

beardies would be much harder because they eat so much more. I really do NOT like asking people to take care of my pets.

Man you don't read.
The gecko will be fine, provide fresh water and a few crickets.

I know
I'm gonna just take a moment and attribute it to having 3 children under the age of 6 and one oversized manchild who all needs me to think for them. :wacky:
My advice still made sense though, just take out the beardie relevant parts! I do promise to start reading/posting more carefully though.

You could put cgd in various consistencies in its cage to hopefully have them all dry out at the same time. I don't know if it will more for sure but maybe test this ahead of time.
